Great to see Jason Bristow back at the club in an assistant coaching role....he'll give the midfield structures some grunt if he coaches like he played.

Some very strong words from CEO Peter Capes on detractors of the club and the alignment models in this years Annual Report.

"...What makes Subiaco the best club in 2018 and on the podium for the very best in WAFL history?

The Club sets very high standards and expectations, employs the very best people we can find who then all commit to these high standards and cultural norms. Coaches demand high standards in preparation and training and drive each other to set a professional environment with only one aim – to get the very best from every player. Players in the club must be of great character and part of the team, no excuses for individuals, all together and no cliques, they buy into the programs, support the leadership and more than anything else simply work harder for longer than anyone else.

Many external people continually disrespect the achievements of this club, but doing so after all three premierships merely reflects an ignorance of the Subi way. Dismissing league success by pointing to a financial influence is one thing but to then also apply that logic to the unpaid reserves and colts players success is absurd.

The AFL Alignment Model again demonstrated that the WAFL gained no advantage from the presence of the high-profile brand of the AFL Clubs where key areas like attendance & sponsorship are not growing. I am therefore very excited about the introduction of the West Coast Eagles standalone team in 2019 and as I have said before this alternative model can now hopefully harness the power and prestige of the AFL Clubs to provide a positive environment for the WAFL and its fans and supporters...."

Pac-man let's start with the most glaring demonstration of the duplicitous nature of his comments. He speaks of "great character" when clearly and demonstrably the Colt's coach was responsible for a blatant breach of the spirit of the conditions relating to player placements in the colts' GF. And the reward for the Colts' coach is to appoint himas the Club's league coach.

He bemoans the current attendance and sponsorship levels at the WAFL and suggests that a West Coast stand-alone team is somehow the magic elixir that will improve both. On what basis can you possibly suggest that there will be an increase in the average attendances with the introduction of the stand-alone team? Note I said average attendances as one would hope that the overall attendance figure will be higher with a 5th game. How does he expect the WAFL clubs' individual sponsorship will increase under these circumstances?

Perhaps Peter Capes needs to find a mirror and reflect why his club does not receive the accolades for winning all three GFs in 2018. I have followed the WAFL starting in the 1960s. I cannot think of any other situation in that time where a club would not have been given anything other than the most fulsome praise for winning the three GFs. Perhaps if Subiaco stopped its never ending rapacious raiding of other clubs' players and/or recruits Subiaco might be afforded some respect rather than the current well deserved contempt and disdain

Perhaps whilst he continues to ponder on his reflection he might be frank enough to admit that Subiaco's dominance is directly related to the lower attendances at the WAFL also.
