Lots of good points, SS. Read the West today and have to agree that Brodie and Wagner were very good in the middle.

Our reserves ruckman, wagon trains, South and Mathews look a little light. Putty likewise struggled for impact, last year.  I wonder if Henderson could play a role in the ruck? Henderson the younger looks like a talent in the forward line.

Kenterfield,  Schofield and Savigni might get drafted. That will have a big impact on next year.  If special K stays, we can go one better next year .

After taking a day to get over our fifth loss in a final to the Peel dockers, I have realised that after finishing Second at the end of the home and away season with 12 wins and unearthing more good young players it is probably a better result than I would have expected at the start of the season.
We were always on the back foot in that game after they got the first four goals and never really threatened after that. Most disappointing again as others have mentioned was the constant poor delivery into the forwards and the number of uncontested intercept marks taken by the opposition defenders. Didn’t seem to win many centre clearances and Zac Clarke was again monstered by their two rucks. Thought Kentfield should have been used more in that area to give Zac more of a break. Didn’t also see much of the hard tagging that a guy like Brodie should have been subject to?
Overall a disappointing end to what was a reasonable season where hopefully we learnt some lessons and will go away over the summer and reflect on those. Important to get Greg Clark back as he is that big inside mid we missed this season and along with Kyron Hayden will give us a different look there.
Special mention to Aaron Heal who has been a super reliable defender for us over many years, enjoy your retirement Aaron and thanks!

Nice summation Jjim. I agree with everything you've said. A good season but a disappointing end.

A lot of us were worried about the credentials of our forward coach. A lot of comments here reflect my own observations of how frustratingly dysfunctional the forward line was, considering the talent. Maybe it’s time for that experiment to end.

Couldn't do any worse!!
I see Teakle has been delisted by Port, I hope Subi are all over it as he is exactly the type of ruckman we need if Clarke retires. Most likely will head back to EF if he doesn't get another AFL gig, but well worth pursuing.
