Second half was better DG. Not a good day for sure but we need the kids to play and take things on. Fwds were ok in my view except braut who had a shocker. Not sure u can blame the female fwds coach. What about the midfield coach? How many clearances/ stoppages did we win in the entire first half...i would have said fark all.

DG: you got it absolutely right-- twenty goals is a lot to concede too; so much for the 'defensive structures' which win games--Schofield believed this as well. Only two aspects matter on the footy field--those being pace and skill-- Smith and Pickett

The game was over at half time Coogee, the ferals could have have gone home at that stage and we still would have lost! I’m not having a go at the girl, more so the club and it’s choice of coaches

Well this is what I initially expected this year to be like so no real surprise to me although I was hopeful after the scratchies. As I said last week we would have to play a lot better than we did against the dees to even trouble the better sides, well I didn’t really class the ferals as one of the better sides and they still gave us a flogging. Fkn pissed right off tbh. We as long term diehards shouldn’t have to put up or be served up that shit, fkn disgrace, fkn shit head coach, girl assistant, fuck right off
Love your passion DG, fukn mint :)

They only conceded 17 AR?  Mind you thats a lot for Subiaco given their recent history

Well...we had a crack after half time but it was left by too many to too few. We were smashed through the middle by Brayshaw, Crowden and Schumacher. Not trying to sound like a broken record but Braut is all at sea playing up forward. He's not mobile enough and doesn't read the ball coming in as a forward should. Also, the disposal efficiency of the Hickmott's must be in the low 30s I reckon as they turn it over far too often.

Noah Ash is not a league footballer and Wagenknecht needs to learn how to play in the ressies as 3 disposals for an entire game is not good enough.

Giro was superb and must go close to the Sandover if he continues in this form, Soks good, Schofield is a bit timid but at least he hit the scoreboard, Clarke another good effort and Aaron Heal held the backline together, Golding did some good things. All in all a dirty day.

A special mention to the umpires...it must be a new record to only receive 4 free kicks for an entire game. It didn't cost us the match but it did impact on keeping us close to EP as they were running away...it really beggars belief just how poor they were today.
i agree the umpiring didn't affect the result.I was surprised it was 14-4.Still very low number of free kicks.Usually we are 4-10 free kicks behind other teams.I would suspect most of the frees were in the first half when we ran riot. After half time i would say the royals hardly got a kick.Sitting from my vantage point i thought the umps missed frees and holding the ball seemed to be rarely rewarded.I think Clarke shaded Jones.Subi made the most of their oppurtunties and kicked some really good snaps and where deadly from set shots except Walters. As  someone said he loves kicking points from that end(winning point from last year)

That was a shocker by Max Walters. He couldn’t get anything right. Please once more Beau, can we get Braut OUT OF THE FORWARD LINE?
The mids were generally weak but the half forward line got destroyed.
Not many positives but my opinion on a couple of the ressies from last year and fringe players remain unchanged. Not quite at league level yet. Schofield showed a lot more today

The half fwds kicked 5 between them. Our midfield was torn to shreds in the first half when all the damage was done. The fringe players werent to blame in my view. Stalwarts had shockers also. So we change fringe players every 2 weeks? Give them continuity and confidence otherwise we will be up shit creek without a paddle when the stalwarts retire.

Yep...agree Coogee. That was a trap Wardman fell into last year... almost a revolving door for some of the youngsters. Guys like Cody Eaton were continually in and out of the seniors giving them no chance to adapt to the extra pace and intensity. Reward the best performers in the two's but also give the fringe guys playing seniors a decent run at it.

Pretty much agree with the comments, shocking first half, destroyed in the mids, next to no pressure on their mids so their delivery to their forwards was first class and they have a few good talls who marked everything that came their way. Their mids provided 7 goals and their 3 big mids in Crowther, who is a beast, Schumacher who is very classy as is Brayshaw, contributed 85 disposals, most of which hit targets, our 3 main mids in Giro, who was our best, kitch and Schoey produced 65 fairly average disposals.

What annoyed me the most, particularly in the first half was the lack of intensity, a lack of willingness to close check, run hard and spread, a lack of willingness by the backs to spoil rather than try and mark (bring back rumba and Locks) all of which they decided to do in the second half when we kicked 10 goals to 5, but the game was lost by halftime.

EP were very good with an obsession to play on at all costs, every time they took a mark they were wanting to handball and always had someone streaming past with a Subi player 10m behind. Surely the coaching panel should have picked that up by 1/4 time.

Giro was terrific as was Clarke who over the 4 qtrs just had the best of big Jones, Schoey showed a fair bit more than last week, but is an outside runner with good pace and skills. Jnr Hansen showed enough to get another run, another with real pace and good skills, Heal did ok, but Gus and Maxy had forgettable days, but were no orphans. The effect of losing a big aggressive mid like Hayden pre-season was clearly evident yesterday.

The next 4 games, if we play like yesterday could see us at 1 and 5 with CL, Joondy, EF and SF coming up followed by Swans, so a really hard road ahead.

We desperately need some more tall options up forward, Mayo had a good game in the 2's and should be ready to step up, Borchet had a concussion break so could be ready next week, but may stay in the 2's, Snadden will be back as will Tholstrup.

The umpiring has already been mentioned and had no impact on the result, maybe the margin, but EP were clearly the better team even though they appear to have a question mark over the ability to run out 4 qtrs 2 weeks in a row, but .... 4 free kicks over 4 qtrs is an absolute disgrace and should be investigated. I had no issues with the frees that EP got as they were mostly there, but it was a case of play on or throw it up when a free was obvious for us.
