You might be thinking of Michael Pickering, gtrxuone.
Liam - now an AFL player manager - pulled on the boots for North Melbourne and Geelong.[/quote]

Not sure where I read it, gtrxuone, but I believe Liam Pickering was a pretty fair cricketer before he went down the footy path.
But then again, most of these blokes are good at multiple sports (lucky buggers).

I see young Aaron Hardie has been called up for the Scorchers. This kid's a real talent but I'm not sure he should be thrown to the wolves in BBL. I'd prefer he start off in a longer form of the game as I reckon he has the potential to play test cricket in the not too distant future.

The Stars are missing Stoinis, Zampa, Maxwell and Handscomb so a huge hole left in their team. The Scorchers should have the bowling resources to cover for the loss of Richardson and Berendorff so I would expect them to win tonight but who knows in a 20/20

Ricky Ponting was excited when he came on to bowl BC.With his side arm action. He thought he can swing the ball.

Willey bowled OK tonight , 1-27 off 4 overs is reasonable. Just need to get him in some form with the bat.
Overall a welcome victory-keeps them in the hunt for a finals spot
Positives
Man of the match performance by Tye
Return to form by Bancroft
Qadir bowled well although he needs to work on his fielding
Turner continues his great striking

Negatives
Hylton Cartwright can't buy a run at the moment
An apparent ankle injury for Agar. Hopefully not too serious

Young Hardie had a tough start with only 1 over and he didn't bat. He got to play in a winning team though and I'm sure he will get further opportunities as the season wears on.

Interesting to see Hardie get his first(and only) over in the batting power play with little protection in the deep....not a particular smart move considering the kid would be nervous etc....surely more experienced options could of been used.....and could of been a confidence booster by getting him at the end with his skipper, to get the victory....no.....let's get Bosisto in instead......I guess Voges was desperate for the win.....any win......esp with his current coaching season so far.....are the Scorchers good enough to win all their remaining games at Optus...esp without Richardson bowling?....

4 games in a row at Optus now. Richardson and Berendorff as well as the two Marsh brothers will be back for the last 2 of these so things are looking up for them. They will probably need to win at least 3 of the four games to stay in the running for a finals berth.
