Remember Fabian Francis? He wasn't even allowed to play for the Dockers because they stuffed up his paperwork or something and never played a game again!

There’ll be plenty of us “haters” and non haters having a very slight interest in how Freo go. Each year they pick up a couple of players that will take them all the way, but nothing happens. This year, they’ve picked up real talent, so let’s see if they live up to the hype.

You took the easy option AM, McPharlin was only 12 games deep into a career.

Fremantle turned Chris Tarrants career around by turning him into one of the competitions best key defensive players, so much so Collingwood wanted him back and got him. And Modra was on the outer at Adelaide and knocked out a pretty good 3 or years at Fremantle.

Ill throw a few names into the ring

Dale Kickett played 135 games at Freo and this was no doubt his best footy,
Peter Mann won a Doig medal after playing for the Roos. He played 77 games for Freo
Jason Norrish won a Doig medal after playing for Melbourne. He played 128 games at Freo
Troy Cook's 150 games at Freo and Doig medal was a better player than when he left Sydney
Matt Carr improved at Freo and played better than he did at St Kilda
Famer played good footy at Freo. 131 games and 224 goals
One could argue Des Headland should be on this list, he only played 2 years at Brisbane
One Could argue Zac Dawson was better at Freo than he was at St Kilda and Hawthorn

So there are a few. Not as many as you would like over 20odd years. but not as bad as some make out

Good players in the Freo team, but not a lot of them would have been in the starting 22 of the top sides.

One could ....... he went maybe from a C- to a C.

But it would be nigh on impossible to argue he "excelled" anywhere.

The real interest will be in whether Sir Ross can coach in a way that is conducive to key forward play.

Modra went to Fremantle a star and proved his touch of class throughout his stay in what was a very lowly side.

Chris Bond
Chris Tarrant
Trent Croad -- Hawthorn recruitted him back remember
Adrian Fletcher
Peter Mann
Peter Bell
Ben Allen

The last three captainned the club, which of course, made them better footballers.

The WCE have had plenty of recritting failures over the years it is just that people choose to ignore them

How did they improve Corey Young's and Sam Mitchell's careers?

It will be interesting, also, to sse if McCarthy and Kerstin improve precisely becuse they are playing along side proper key position players.

Given the talent that Sir Ross has been given, naturally, he will have few excuses come the end of the season if they should fail.
