Cannot for the life of me understand why people vote for the minor parties, it achieves nothing. All it does is stop government from governing. What is the point of that?

Make no mistake, Turnbull is the big loser here, calling a double dissolution early election has backfired in his face. Labor and Shorten have come out of it smelling like roses regardless of wether they can form government or not and as we speak Labor hold the lead.

If we had another election next week after Malcoms embarrassing performance in the early hours of the morning, Labor would win in a landslide. Malcom misread the voters and what is important to them. No mandate for you Malcom, you need to erase that word from your vocabulary.

"There has never been a more exciting time to be an Australian"

Lets hear you roll that one out now Malcom. Give us substance, not bullshit.

No Bob Maumill,it ain't a hanging offence. But she wouldn't want people to think she's above the Law,if she speaks on matters of Law.

State and Federal Matters!By the way,Privatisation of Medicare wasn't a Lie,as it's been pointed out,Medicare is being stripped back already, with Bulk Billing for Families.

You gotta watch Tory Governments on matters of Health, especially in the US.It seems the Citizens there have bigger rights to possess firearms than they have to get basic healthcare.

Won't happen here in that regard, but you couldn't trust the Coalition as far as you could kick them on Medicare. But don't worry, you couldn't trust the ALP and Greens as far as you could kick them on Safe Sex Marriage. That issue needs to be resolved by the Electorate as promised by Turnbull.

It's funny I trust Turnbull on this. But the answer to that is easy, because this is one poll the Conservatives here would Win hands down. It's not an issue that I lie awake at night to worry about.I'm not sure why Gays and Lesbians would want recognition from Conservative Institutions anyway. But if we did Vote Yes,I don't think the sky will fall in either.

On the Senate, can anybody put the current numbers in this thread?

And with the Double Dissolution, the memory fades since the last one.Who serves 6 years and who doesn't?How do their Terms work now?

Graasy the Senate will probably not be known for at least a couple of weeks. It is mindboggling that we will the likes of Hanson and Hinch in the Senate.

As for the ultra-hypcritical cries of scare campaign from the Liberals it is a joke; this from the party of "reds under the beds"; "children overboard" or dare one say "weapons of mass destruction".

The Liberals got their just desserts and Malcolm Turnbull is a dead man walking.

It's going to be a shit fight in the coming weeks, months and the next 3 years. It's 2010 all over again except this time the shoe is on the other foot. Funny how history has a way of repeating itself. It's going to be a fricken circus.

DD the facts are that subsequent to the 2010 election the Labor MINORITtY government wwas able to gets its legislation throught the Senate; subsequent to the 2013 election the Liberal/National Party coalition government was not able to get a vast amount of its legislation through the Seante. One of the reasons was that A Albanese negotiated its legislation through the Senate compared with Christopher Pyne's approach of lecturing to, hectoring and belittling of the cross-benches in the Senate.

Looks like a hung lower & upper. The good part is once Labour get back in power they will have no money to splash. Greens will stuff this up.

S42 do you think that Labor has any chance of forming government? I see Shorten is on the blower with the independents.

Why is that swan? Is it because you don't like a majority of people thinking different to you? Or is it because you think you're much cleverer that the people that voted for them?

Senate:

www.abc.net.au/news/federal-election-2016/results/senate/

1987

The 12 senators from each state are divided into two classes: the first six senators to be elected from the state will serve a maximum term of six years until the second Senate changeover, while the other six senators serve a maximum term of three years until after the next Senate changeover.
