Does the captain of Subiaco automatically wear the no.1 guernsey? Similar to what Port do in the AFL.

Congrats to Leigh Kitchin in taking over the captaincy of the club from Kyal Horsley. Kyal has done a tremendous job over the past 5 years and im sure Leigh will continue on with that.

Yep...I agree Jim. Well done to all involved. It looks like Horse will take on a mentoring role with a view to moving into coaching in the next year or so.

Are you suggesting Wardman was appointed as a short gap option until Horsley is ready??

I would think that Horse will play out this year then take on an assistant coach role. Apparently Wardman was a front runner for a developmental position at Brisbane but got the Subi gig instead. I certainly can see Horse as Subi's or another club's senior coach in a few years time if he doesn't get picked up as an assistant at an AFL club.

BC Horse is a natural leader and did a lot of on field coaching, was a major asset for Schoey. Great communicator and demands respect from all including the senior players. I would think he may follow Schoeys example and do a couple of years assisting at another club before coming back to the fold. He would be an asset to any club in any role.

I think Horse would be at least 3 years away from a senior position, so Wardman has plenty of time as senior to display his wares. If not already done he needs to complete the coaching accreditation levels appropriate for ma senior gig and also get that all important experience at assistant level, either at Subi or another elite level club like Claremont.
