With Schoey indirectly admitting on TV yesterday he'll be in the AFL system next year, I wonder who is in the frame to take over? The club would have known for quite some time you would think as it's the last year of his contract and he would have kept them up to date on his mind set..... so would they have someone lined up already or wait for the fallout from the end of season purge of assistants by AFL clubs? Someone like Marc Webb or Simon McPhee would be handy...other than that, who knows as it would be a plum job but a hard act to follow.

Big shoes to fill.My guess is someone out of the Afl system. Probably a current Afl assistant coach or recently retired Afl player.Someone fairly high profile from the East coast.

Has Bill Mongahan recommitted to West Perth next year or not? If not, would he be an option to consider given his Subiaco background?

The club has tended to go for relatively untried coaches over the last 20 years or so with the exception of German. Kevin Sparks, Scott Watters, Chris Waterman and now Schofield had never coached a senior team or been an assistant at AFL level from memory. I'd like to think a fairly high profile assistant from an AFL club with all the latest game and training strategies and techniques would be sought after. I'm not sure about Monaghan...he's done pretty well at WP but has the game started to overtake him like it has Ross Lyon? It's a full-time gig for Schoey this year so maybe they could dangle something similar to a current AFL assistant who wants some experience as a Head Coach.

With the list they have, do they really need a coach?

It is not going to be a walk in the park for the new coach. The squad is doing some unfinished business this year and then could break up...

The group is relatively young with the exception of Horsley at 31, Kitchin 28, Brad Stevenson 30, Wheeler 30, Cockie 29 ..all the rest are mid 20's or younger so don't think we'll lose too many but who knows? Maybe the motivation won't be there if they do win a flag as it's my understanding preseason this year was a killer at or near AFL level and maybe some don't want to go through it again.
