I am sure JT like every other passionate WAFL lover is frustrated by the complete inability of the Perth Football Club to get its act together and be competitive and capable of playing finals if not winning a premiership against a side with just too many advantages.

JT has often written about Perth and if anything, apart from embarrassing those in charge at Lathlain, he is calling out the WAFC for their complete lack of action and ignorance to the incompetency of the Perth FC.

What do you suggest the WAFC should do?

Start with an independent review, royal commission whatever you want to call it into why the Perth FC remains uncompetitive year in year out. Maybe they don't want to because it will embarrass some clubs obvious advantages.

DD: I agree mate, thankful that JT wrote the article, but just wanted to stress the fact that he had avoided mentioning any of the possible solutions, probably for the reasons you mentioned. There are, one or two on here, whom like to hit Perth over its collective head for little apparent reason, aside from losing.

There was once a Peth adminstrator, whom, before the First World War, protected Subiaco from similar attacks, attacks which oriniatted mostly from the North Fremantle club. We are most indebtted to that Perth chap, and of course, the other clubs for not throwing us out of the League for simply losing.

I cannot believe this dribble, you and everyone else knows that from the 80's you have had a cash cow and that is what has bought your success!

I can't believe those comments from an East Perth supporter. Subi was sponsored by Western Underwriters in 1985 to the tune of $100k if they made the finals and another $100k if they won the flag. It didn't happen in 1985 but did happen in 1986. Runners up again in 87 and premiers in 88. That was the major turn around in the club's finances along with Merrifield and Carlisle between 1980 and 1987 as club presidents setting the course to recovery well before the AFL seats deal. Unlike your feral eagles, Subi didn't have a cashed up benefactor to rely on so get your facts right.

Just looking at Mal Brown back in 86.Just before the Eagles. The Demons where a bit behind Subi and the Sharks. But the Club was building nicely back them.Good crowds,a bit of cash.Sponsorship.That era of Perth FC would of won a Flag in the late 80's.Or gone really close. But the Eagles change Wa footy for ever.
Zones have to be part of the problem.Theres just not enough good young players coming to the club.Through the Juniors. Was there talk of a Kelmscott relocation at some time back.Maby a relocation to Manduarh and no Peel introduction.

Darryl Mann is the Marcel Marceau of club presidents, never said boo since he inherited the presidency and I've been told these guys are laying real low lately probably avoiding eye contact with the faithful that are left still going to games.

While I think we need some fresh blood and new ideas in the roles that these two occupy, the simple fact is Perth have done nothing and stood for nothing for 40 years. There have been plenty of people before these two that have come in and not been able to make a difference. The question should be WHY can't anyone make a difference. WHY does nothing change?

You would think in an eight team competition and nine team competition (since Peel) over the past 40 years, with half the teams able to make finals and more recently five teams out of nine you would play finals more than three times. Law of averages would think that this would at least be anywhere between 10-15.

Ark, not having a go but this is a legitimate question. Why in your opinion is the article nonsense and why are the questions that are being asked wrong?

What questions would you be asking?

With regards to our zone, I acknowledge that it may not be as fruitful as other clubs. However are we doing everything we can to maximise the talent that is in it currently or has been in it over the years.

From my experience 15-16 years ago majority of the junior clubs felt that there was no relationship between their club and Perth. Unfortunately this has not improved.

BC or anyone else for that matter would like to explain how taking players drafted from the Perth football club by one or other of the two WA domiciled AFL teams could possibly improve Perth's ability to improve their position from last? Particularly galling would be to see such a player training within 50 metres of where Perth players would be training.
