Didn't he do some coaching with the state 16's or 18's as well as some senior gigs, be interesting on the feedback on that in relation to Lockyer.

The President at the pre game luncheon said that they had a number of enquiries about the coaching position with several from those currently in the AFL system. This was confirmed by Mick Ablett, who is I believe the WAFC representative on the selection panel. Mick Ablett has also coached at senior level in the VFL.

He coached Subi reserves to a flag last year. I don't think he's doing anything in relation to game day this year.

Who is 'Ablett'?

Mick Ablett is currently the WAFL Talent Pathway Manager and previously was Kevin Sheehan's 2IC at the AFL talent pathway.
He also does a bit of expert commentary on Sport FM's WAFL coverage when Micale or Mitsy are unavailable.

Hmm that's what I thought, well some may be comfortable with that. I'm unsure what his motivation will be in assisting East Fremantle find a coach. He has spent less than a year in Western Australia and he has a commitment to help find East Fremantle their next league coach?

My thoughts too Oool what is his interest?

Yep, he has less than 12 months in the West and no dircect affinity with the WAFL and he's the expert they want involved. Why would he actually care if East Fremantle succeeds and how would he have a clue what would be in the best intertests of the club.

dont see the issue having someone from outside the club invovled in the process, giving the job to the brother-in-law of a director didnt work last time..
whether he is the best person to be the outside person on the panel who knows but the WAFC loves control over everything..

no different to Taylor running the WAFC. He previously managed the Melville and Joondy Leisure Centres...got a gig doing something at Subi Oval, owned a café in Myaree which has since closed as well as a gym somewhere...and now controls all levels of footy in WA...go figure?

Agreed there should be someone from outside the club or is now removed from the club. That should be someone invested in the Western Australian football and the WAFL as a comp, not someone from outside the state whose agenda is not necessarily the betterment of the WAFL as a comp in its own right.
