standthetest: thanks for your kind words -- it was a little bit of a trend in those days, and of course, is still done by the clubs today. Subi definitely played on the goldfields and Dampier, both against the Royals from memory. I am pretty sure EP also played SD in Bunbury at some point.

BH?

AR I believe the first WAFL game played (for Premiership Points) outside the metro area was the SD vs EP game in Round 1 1984 at Hands Oval in Bunbury.

South were in a period of decline then, we had a big gap in age/talent, might look good on paperm but the likes of Vigona, Carter Roe were well past best, then there was the young brigade only just kids Suma Worsfold Irvine. There were a lot of battlers in there as well like Dellar.

Of course the only way PFC could possibly beat Souths would be if they were in a period of decline...

Not an extra cent should be put in by tax payers, too much has already been wasted.

As far as I'm concerned there are just too many clubs in the WAFL for system to support.

This is the same hopeless mob that dicked your sorry arses on Prelim day. You muppets rocked up thinking you were 98 points up :P :P :P

As for Subi moving, not in a million years, as BC mentioned. When the club was considering the forced move from Subi oval, three options were put to the members to consider and vote on, first option was to ground share at a redeveloped Claremont oval which made huge sense being the 2 western suburbs teams but Claremont Council would have no part of it back then as they were eyeing off the profits from a subdivided Claremont oval while pushing the monts to the Shitty showgrounds, so that was dead in the water. 2nd option was ground share with WP at Kingsway, again not a stupid idea but the costs involved were way out of the park for either club, the Council or the Govt. The third option was what has happened and was passed with only 1 dissenting vote. So we've been well down that track and wont be moving anywhere else. WP's problem is WP's so like Swans recently and Subi nearly 40 years ago, and other clubs who have faced similar situations, you roll up your sleaves, rattle the cans and get on with it, dont expect everyone else to do it for you.

Beautifully put SS.

BC,

You contradicted yourself there mate, rattling tins is exactly the same as the footy commission assisting, money comes from the same pool ! We rattled tins so to speak, we hit up Members for donations, when $ubi were rattling tins there were 10-15k at the grounds, not 1k like today. Finding funds is an entirely different ball game these days.

Agree Leedy no where near as many punters around the WAFL these days but when you rattle tins etc punters can make a decision on what they do with their money, when Councils, state & fed Government give handouts that choice is removed. I have made the point several times about how Swans have approached a very similar situation in a very similar climate as your mob and to their credit they have worked their arses off with little or no handouts and are gradually crawling their way out of the financial shite.

I think you are supposed to rattle the tins before you go broke. Just a thought.
