'In terms of averages, Turnbull's losing Newspolls have had very slightly better 2PPs than Abbott's (47.2 vs 46.8' not much in it really. Turnbull benefitted from Abbott's big victory at the previous election and, we should keep in mind, from a strong result in Victoria, because Andrews had annoyed one of the local unions. What people need to realise, is that, given Malcolm's views on climate change he would have found it very difficult to beat the Gillard government on the carbon tax question.

The quote is from Dr Kevin Bonham 'Poll Round up'

I am not sure if the question in the OP title was rhetorical, but the answer would appear to be NO.

According to the latest Newspoll released on Sunday night, Labor’s lead remains unchanged at 53 to 47 despite a fortnight of ferocious attacks of the ALP’s support for the medical evacuation of sick asylum seekers on Manus Island and Nauru.

53 V 47 is a bad result for the Government. Given they won the questions in the poll survey. The government was more trusted on Border Security. Economic management +ScoMo was preferred PM by a fair bit....Given Labour has some holes in there policies it must be the Abbot,Turnbull.ScoMo+maby Julie Bishop factor.

Taken together with this one www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2019/...ill-getup-poll-finds it would seem to indicate that the IPSOS poll in your OP was a blip.

You can anticipate a pick-up in orders for shredding machines over the next few weeks. :)

Lol the only poll that matters is on election day in the meantime Shorten and his blind mice can live and dream as they've been acting like it's in the bag since the fallout from Turnbull getting the arse which he richly deserved.

Shortcut won't be able to turn his back and have a few Muppets to have a chuckle with like he does in parliament when he is under attack. The bloke is a weazel and will let this country down if given the opportunity.

Before you jack yourself off jack I'll remind you that the coalition according to the polls were going to bolt it in when Keating was PM and Hewson was leader of the opposition.. I'm confident Bill will be found wanting when the whips are cracking, maybe we can bring Mike Willisee back out of retirement to ask Bill Shorten why retirees are going to lose their return on their franking credits?

Dr Hewson, if I buy a birthday cake, will I be paying gst? Hewson, well it uhmm depends what's on the cake. Willisee, if you are having trouble explaining how gst would or wouldn't apply to a birthday cake, then how are you going to sell that to the Australian people?

That was the election right there.
Get on your bike.
It was Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve.

No wonder Shortarse wouldn't say how much Labor's climate change policy is going to cost at the leaders debate on Monday. If implemented, it'll savage the WA economy in particular.

BC that article is pretty scary and the fact that Shortarse refuses to put figures to this policy comes over very clearly that he has a shitload to hide. The other danger is if there is a minority Labor govt then they will be totally beholden to the Greens to stay in power and there's every chance they will force Labor into a more extreme and damaging CC policy. You ask any working man or woman what comes first, feeding the family and paying the mortgage or wanting to strut the world stage spruking your green credentials with the knowledge you will have a nice fat tax payer funded super to rely on when you retire and no financial problems for the rest of your life. If the greens get the balance of power we may as well fold up our tents and find a cave to live in, which is what these green neanderthals will be happy with.

Agree SS. If Labor wins the next election which it looks like it will I only hope it's with a clear majority as you wouldn't want the nation held to ransom by those nut cases Di Natale, Hanson-Young and co. On the other hand, the same applies to the Coalition as you wouldn't want Clive or Pauline Hanson to hold the balance of power either....FMD...I think we might all be stuffed either way.
