Not sure what Ellards plans are, there were rumours around late in the season that he may retire but he finished the season so hopefully that indicates that he will go around again

mikeh wrote: Some numbers for the season
40 players used this year
8 debutants
14 players had played under 20 games
8 players had more than 100 games experience, we have now lost two of these (Rogers and Ugle)
Another 6 players had 50 - 100 games experience but we lost Banfield to retirement and Blight did not play for the vast majority of the season due to injury.
There were ex AFL players Gault, Ellard and Palmer to add experience.
Highlights of the season; the win over East Perth in May, Stephen Paynes and Rhys Palmers contribution, Nobles improvement, the return of Doc, Mitchell Bains goal of the season last saturday, the ressies making the finals
Lowlights; one goal in 3 quarters at Joondalup, general drop off from a promising start, the sudden retirements and walk outs.
Its been a tough first year for the coach, he's had his work cut out and I think we need to give him some slack to guide the team away from the Harding era and put his mark on the team..

And here are some numbers that may be of interest.
Is interesting looking at some of Swans figures compared to last season.
In 2017, Swans finish 4th on the league ladder with 40 premiership points and 88%
Goals = 216
For = 1470
Against = 1662
Total Ball Disposals = 6523
Ins 50 M = 842
Scoring shots = 390
And for the 2018 season, shows the following figures.
Goals = 202
For = 1379
Against = 1675
Total Ball Disposals = 5846
Ins 50 M = 775
Scoring shots = 369

To stand around blaming the coach for Swans poor form in the second half of the season is a bit harsh. I think Pickering has done a good job in his first year. Swans were in the top 2 on the league ladder until the third week. Then stayed in 5th position for a while. Then in week 8 found themselves in fourth. And stayed there until the 14. Then tumbled down the league ladder after that. And their efficiency rating was quite high earlier in the season, and that got worse in the second half of the season.
Just hope Swans can keep the current group together.

the key for the coach will be how the young players from this year improve over the pre-season.
its up to the footy manager to get some recruits in to bolster the experienced players and he should be judged on that..

forgot to mention Wilson as he went away for a week late in the year and then played reserves on the weekend, his best year at league level and if he has another good pre-season will imporve again in 2019.
wait and see with him and a few others to see if they can take the next step.

mo how would you rate Wilson's efforts during his matches this year?

Out of our top 45 players would you be able to perhaps place those players into the following groups:

(i) essential players - those we absolutely need to retain;
(ii)second tier - those players who you would hope to become automatic league selections;
(iii) development level - those who you expect to move into the second tier by the end of 2020;
(ix) players who perhaps should be moved on.

Thanks mo.

Jesse Glass-McCasker was delisted from Carlton today hopefully the club and FM are on the phone getting him back home to us unless drafted/rookied elsewhere!
