One huge problem we have is a lack to identify talent, players that are league ready.
We are this players 3rd WAFL club surely after the second we could see he just wasn't up to league standard particularly as a 10 point player.

Papertalk????

I questioned the recruitment of this guy and I've seen nothing that has changed my opinion of him!
10 point players should be playing league no ifs or buts.

This is one of the faults with the point system. The system is good in theory but a bloke like Papertalk is destined tothe scrap heap simply because he was on an AFL list once. I wonder how many other players under this system have wanted to have another crack at WAFL but don't get the chance because they have a ludicrous number of points attached so no other club will touch them. I reckon this is where a draft might work. Players not needed by one club can be picked up by another club for, say, 1 point, regardless of games played, AFL experience, whatever.

Good point CM. Classic example and probably the first victim was Casey Sibosado. He found form playing with us then Fremantle gave him one game at the end of the season then delisted him. He was then valued at 14 points to us because he was originally a Claremont player.

I think a similar scheme could be applied with all former players outside of the 'protected lists'. It would make recruiters at clubs more accoutable too, fans knowing clearly whether their club has failed to snap up a particular player in the draft.

With respect mate, have you seen much of Perth this year,to form that opinion of Callum? You too DF!

I know enough about him and have seen enough of him to have my opinion.

Mount a case for him Grassy with the number of ressies games he's played and with the 10 points he has which should put him in the top Half dozen players at the club.
He's 25 and played over 50 reserves games.

He's 10 points Grassy you can't shy away from that.
He's 26 next year he's no kid.
We cant hang onto him and hope, he hasn't delivered as yet and has been in the wafl system long enough.

This club needs to make some tough decisions on its list and if it means letting go some nice guys to get some quality footballers in the door so be it.

Simple equation Grassy.
He is not a 10 point player.
End of story.

10 points should be reserved for experienced, elite, first 22 players only and NOT for regular reserves grade players.
In fact, regular reserves grade players should not be recruited at all. There should be expectations that every recruit can and will become a regular league player and not just a very good reserves player.
Time to stop wasting points.

Doesn't help if we aren't getting first use of the ball out the middle. Did you or anyone else for that matter go to the game? Would Troy Yukich be worthwhile looking at as a potential ruckman. I know he has played reserves mainly this year but played a lot of league football last season.

With regards to Callum his fitness improved dramatically compared to 2016 and I think this saw his form improve. Yes his last two league games weren't great but I do think he was decent in majority of his league games this year. Albeit only seven.

However the problems is, that like Sibosado he is costly in terms of points.

At 10 points though if it was a choice between him and a ruckman then I know which way I'd be leaning towards as unfortunate for Callum as it would be.
