As mentioned before MO.... O'Reilly did train with the senior squad throughout the 2018 preseason after that 2017 league debut....for some reason got overlooked for the EF league side....as for some reason he got overlooked by all 18 AFL clubs come draft day.....who knows....Perhaps a complacency issue....hopefully he is on the right track now with a Monaghan or AFL snub kick up the arse...time will tell

we already know what happened, why did it happen is the question..
how does a kid go from being a top 20 pick to not getting drafted ?

Complacency perhaps....thought it was a given maybe....not always the systems fault....players have to take responsibility too I guess....anyway hopefully back on track from an individual and a club perspective....obviously both EF and O'Reilly fell short on developing the kids footy last year.

For those EF fans looking for any write ups on EF....check out the WAFL.com.au site for an interview with Monaghan....seems to be a new one.....talks about how at WP he was devoid on talks and coached accordingly....yet at EF he has a squad of 5 fellas over 200cm.....and 24 players over 190cm.....says he looking forward to having two tall targets up front throughout every match....still reckon we lack height up back tho, esp v the likes of Lee, Keitel, Gault etc....

That is a fair bit more height than the Sharks have had in recent seasons, whether some can adjust to playing as key backs will be a key. Going to be hard to see someone like Stokes returning and rucking ahead of the likes of Strnadica and Griffin, being able to be versatile and playing tall in either the back or front half will be crucial.

Ooooolll from what I have read and heard Stokes, O'Reilly and Cronan have been trialled up back so far this preseason...can't see either Stokes or Cronan rucking in the league unless injuries to Griffen and Strnadica....tho Griff is older and missed a few games last season....young Teakle(200cm) and ex colts captain/ premiership ruck Nick Watson(197) atleast can be given time to develop in the reserves this year.....tho Watson did play 2 league games last year....

Be interesting to see what a fit from the off Loersch can do up front for EF....kicked 30 odd goals from half a season of footy....so hopefully he can stay fit and kick 50 for EF....Strnadica won the colts goal kicking a few years back as did O'Reilly....so nice to have a bunch of forward options....with Boekhorst in along with Manning.....and a different game plan EF delivery hopefully will be more direct and efficient.

Makes sense they are getting trialled down back, getting a bit like the late 80's when there was Tunbridge, Durack, Higgins and Hodson all playing.

Durack went to full back and the others alternated through the ruck and forward line.
