In 2008 Swans made it all the way to the GF with a side laced with Colts aged boys (18yo & under).
Naitanui, Notte, Pearce, Walters, Yarran, Banfield, Garlett, Jetta...would we have even made the finals without these young boys input? I highly doubt it.
In other years we have also had the likes of Rance, Ellard, Embley, Armfield, Cameron, Logue, S.Taylor, Callaghan, Blakely, Ball, O’Reilly, Cummings et al all play League footy at 17/18yo didn’t seem to harm their footy whilst Coniglio, P.Narkle, Sartori & G.Taylor where 16/17yo playing League footy in a WAFL League far superior and tougher than today and light years ahead of Tac Cup and all have carved out decent careers.

Interesting that O'Reilly is on your list, his young bloke is at East Fremantle now having made his league debut last season.
Could he be an example of someone who East Fremantle could have potentially not had available in their push for a finals spot this year?

if Steve O'Reilly had of played 2 more games for Freo his son would have been eligible under the father-son rule, no doubt Freo would have shipped him off to Peel this year to make sure he was being looked after ok.

There is an argument that the kid would be far better off at a more professional club like Claremont rather than the rabble at Peelmantle where Im sure he will be getting first class tuition from one Harley Bennell.

Jason Carter has been training with Freo, young kids want to play AFL has anyone thought about watt he wants, WAFL is only a stepping stone to AFL for these youngs and if they don't get drafted they usually end up like Zareth Roe or playing amateurs.

well change the zones then and send them all to Peel and the Pilbara kids to EP and compensate Claremont and Swans accordingly.

Has someone From a WAFL club complained about this or is it a disgruntled WAFL supporter starting a thread on Ozfooty, but then again the G7 clubs rolled over regarding the alignments probably same thing has happened with this situation.

Making more out of this than its worth.

Under the WAFL club control colts programs it was hard enough to get a colt to play League footy with State 18s and national draft commitments. This is likely to be even more difficult with the WAFC running the colts program. The reality is a very small percentage of colts play senior footy before they are drafted or graduate to senior footy. Coniglio etc played as a Colts nearly a decade ago, under a different model. You won’t see any 15 year Tim Watson’s running around in the VFL/AFL these days either.

Also thought I read somewhere that Carter had been nominated as an Acadamy pre-selection for this years draft?

We’re not really missing out on much with the kid only likely to have played a handful of colts games for us this year. Just gives another kid a chance now.

In regards to your comment PN, it’s mainly a bunch of irrate WAFL supporters kicking up a fuss because they believe anything & everything that’s different to what the WAFL was pre-1987 is a major problem. I haven’t seen anyone in an official capacity at CFC make a statement on this or demand compensation...
