Much better than the hotch potch ones over the last 5 years. At least now everybody plays each other team twice rather than some playing 2 and others 3. The byes have to happen because otherwise if each team played only 18 games with no byes, the season would be too short and the Grand Final would be at the end of August. I think the byes would be popular with the players too especially later in the season when the bodies are getting tired.
Also there is an extra home game for every club given the Eagles will play each game away. Overall I was happy with the fixtures although its interesting that no times have been put on the games at this stage raising the possibility of twilight fixtures or other arrangements to fit in with Channel 7's coverage of the AFL. Hopefully no more 11.40 am games.

mikeh it is interesting that the WAFC have allowed the possibility of a transfer of the extra game. It is not much of a leap to suggest that the WAFC will choose to move those games because the Eagles want it oved.

I note also that there was the suggestion that the state game will be a curtain raiser before a VPL game. Of course using the term is misleading because the match would have to finish an hour before the VPL game.

Mr AFL it is interesting that you say the players want a bye. How many of those same players want Thursday night games? How many tradies want a Thursday evening game after they have had a hard day of physical labour, play a match on the Thursday evening and then have another day of physical labour on the Friday? After a 12 hour shift working in a hospital as a doctor, how many would then like to play a Thursday night game followed by a 12 hour shift on the Firday?

I just saw that after June 30, we only play 1 game out of the last 7 away from Leederville. That should give us a very nice run into the finals if we're lucky enough to get that far. ;-)

Years ago, fixtures were easy to follow and you could predict who you played and where. Now that we have these “creative geniuses”, we seem to get an uneven skewed set of fixtures that can disadvantage a club or clubs. What has changed? How hard can it be?

Its not hard or rocket science at all 58 if you have a football background it was always so easy to follow but the dogs breakfast of the last 21 years hasnt just been because of Peel's not wanted appearance but also tied in with the WAFC giving the task to Uni students to create each seasons fixtures who probably have never watched a game!
I will do the fixtures each year for these WAFC clowns for a nominal fee and you can bet it will be a lot easier format to follow!

Thursday night games probably not so much Swan but the players do like a bye.

I can't imagine any non-AFL aligned player wants to play on a Thursday evening.

Have noticed the match start times been released for the league matches. Many of which (but not all) starting at the 2:10 / 15 pm timeslot. Cannot see the match start times for the Reserves/ Colts as yet.

Where can one print the fixtures out to stick on a fridge?

Is it possible to get the fixtures sync to mobile phone calendars?
