It is easy for all the know alls from Victoria to have a crack at Walker, but like Cornes, I believe it was talk that had to be had.
Lever gave three years to the Crows.Hardly a great way to WANT ,almost demand a release from the club.
Well done to Cornes, Walker needed some one to defend him.

Without channelling the inner Freezin exactly what has Lever done wrong? He chose to leave one employer and go to another employer. A right that all Australians have. No AFL club can bemoan a player's lack of loyalty given they reserve the right to de-list players.

Cornes is a twat, and Walker should be worrying about that piss weak performance he gave in the GF, what right has Walker got having a crack at Lever.

McCarthy, brad Hill and Wilson are all leaving or left their clubs because of personal reasons they were all contracted , haven't heard a peep about their situation and Lever is uncontracted.

Agree 100% swan. Today’s clubs want loyalty from their players, but don’t see loyalty as a 2 way street. As for Walker, listening to him makes me wonder how the hell he got the captains role...he’s not really the brightest crayon in the pack.

I disagree Anchorman. Walker behaved in a similar manner when Tippett decided to leave a couple of years back. The reality is that it is a business now, not a sport and club loyalty is pretty much out the window. Players have a right to seek the best deal for themselves as they only have a limited time in the game. Lever had the guts to ring every Crows player to tell them of his decision when he could have easily slipped out the door without being noticed. He doesn't deserve the crap that he has received from Walker and others at the club who should be focusing their energies on working out why they were so pathetic in the Grand Final

The other side of the loyalty coin is when a club shops a player around with or without the player's agreement in order to get a player from another club.

Well put Peter, you deserve a pat on the back. Lever had Walker judged as the BEST AFL captain this year yet he did bugger all in the Grand Final. If the Crows won then he may have stayed there.

anchorman wrote: LS, unless you were on another planet before the GF,surely you would have read all the kerfuffle about him leaving. There was no reason he wasn't even going to go.
Was all over the shop about him leaving for Melbourne. It had nothing to do with winning the GF.He was gone before that.
ALL the AFL captains had Walker rated as the best captain.

So the voting was 17 to 1.. BULLSHIT

Lets see if Walker wins next year Anchor.....or even finishes top ten of the 18 skippers......I think the "Walsh" factor has well n truly run its course....Tex has done a fantastic job galvanizing the troops post the death of former coach Phil Walsh...couldn't fault Walkers character before the events of the last few weeks.....his off field rant at Lever last week...certainly matched his onfield GF performance v Richmond a few weeks back.....piss weak to say the least.

Hopefully Tex gave the Adelaide coaches a Captains Serve then for delisting those Adelaide players who from all accounts didn't want to leave the club but got shown the door anyway.....oh yeah that is ok because they were crap and club didn't want them....loyalty works both way Anchor....the disloyal Lever had every right to leave the Adelaide footy club, as the Adelaide footy club had every right to ask those loyal delisted guys to leave.....also if it was common knowledge Lever wanted out of Adelaide mid season....why did it take Tex until the week of the big dance to say Lever shouldn't be alloed to play in the GF?....Tex knew without Lever holding up their defence during the season.....Adelaide might not even make that much sought after top 4 spot......anyway for a guy who lacked loyalty he showed more passion for the clubs jumper and played a better game than some of his more loyal team mates in the GF....including the skippers......
