Tiger of old wrote: DD, all clubs have had good deals upon entering the comp. Crows won flags reasonably soon, ditto Port, GWS have been in contention, Gold Coast have had wretched luck with injury mostly. I thought Fremantle actually got quite a good deal if you look at the players they could have had but either traded or didn’t pick. Lloyd, McLeod, And Phil Matera are three that come to mind. And Ben Allan breaking down quickly didn’t help. But old pig headed, stubborn Gerard didn’t have enough patience and went in with half of Claremont’s league side underestimating the jump in standard from wafl to afl.

Yep made some very bad decisions early on. We had some bad luck along the journey. Justin Longmuir's knee, Clem Michael's knee and do we win the 2013 premiership with a fit Anthony Morabito? Peter Bell is a step in the right direction. With an ounce of luck we might not be too far away. Not sure if Ross is the man to do it, we will just have to wait and see.

2013 and 2015 means nothing to both club, we both lost. Asked questions, you lost. Nathan having stage fright in the 1st term did not help your cause. he could not hit the side of a barn on the day.
Moribito might have made a difference but we will never know. It is like West Coast say " If we had not lost Michael Braun in that final against the crows at Subi we won of won the 2005 GF. Big bad Barry should not of been on the park as well.

Agree 58, last 3 premiers (imho) were very hard to pick at the start of the year.

Agreed although after quater time we were terrible.

Coming weeks the Eagles will be much better with Kennedy,Cripps,Rioli and Gaff back in the line-up and not to mention NN hopefully by round 9 or 10.

Clearly struggled in the forward line and ruck last night with the above mentioned players out.
Hickey needs to show a lot more, hardly sighted last night.

Eagles lost round 1 last season and we know it doesnt mean a great deal, lots of work to be done and will struggle imo until we get some players back, hopefully sooner rather than later.

Lets face it its been a round of upsets,Melbourne,Sydney,Adelaide,Collingwood and the Eagles all favourites to win.

I couldn’t watch the game because of a prior engagement. Bit disappointed to hear 30ypd’s comment about Hickey. I thought he showed a bit in the pre season. He wasn’t on his pat malone when it came to poor efforts apparently. Still game it was only game one. Great start to tipping with all the upsets.
