Very hard work but they did it. Wade must surely be in the frame for a middle order position in the test team if Shield runs are the currency for selectors as they have stated
WA are now about 1 and a half points behind NSW on the ladder, so to make the final they need to beat Queensland outright at the WACA and hope that either Tasmania beats or draws with NSW in Hobart. We are in for an intriguing last round starting next Wednesday

After two days the WA v QLD game is evenly poised. The Warriors need at least another 100 to set a challenging target and the opportunity is there for Mitch Marsh and young Phillipe to do this with the support of the lower order. It will be tougher to bowl the Bulls out a second time as the pitch seems to have settled down a bit. What a debut to remember for Aaron Hardie with 4 -29. He will play a lot more for WA next season.
The pressure is now on NSW to try and get a result in their game in Tasmania as they may otherwise find themselves tipped out of the final by the winner of the game at the WACA.

How good is Aaron Hardie? Match figures of 7-60 and a handy 30 in the 2nd innings. We now have one foot in the final and all we need is Tasmania to hang on for a draw or rain to intervene in Hobart.

Alas, Tassie showed as much fight as a tranquilised elephant against NSW today.
All out for 120 to lose by 149 runs, with Matt Wade scoring 65 for a season tally of 1021 and average of 60.05.
Given the Dukes ball has been used for the second half of the Shield season, you'd suggest Wade has done enough to guarantee Ashes tour selection.
Marcus Harris topped the aggregates with 1024 runs at 68.26, so he should be a certain selection.
For the Warriors, losing outright twice to the Blues ultimately cost them a Shield berth.

Agree ADGM. Despite my Warriors bias I have to admit that the best two sides are in the final. My feeling is that the Vics would have been too strong for us anyway and will also beat NSW comfortably as well.
Something to build on next year for the Warriors though. Some real finds there in Hardie and Guthrie.
