A great way for the former Captain Cook to bow out of Test cricket.
Also, a good return to form by Joe Chewy On Your Boot, his first Test century in over a year.
As so often happens with big partnerships, Root and Cook were out in successive balls.
Of course, the To and Froms were clearly chasing runs to get their lead up to 400.

I always have a chuckle when I think of the 2013-14 Ashes series (5-0) and the great ABC commentator Jim Maxwell describing Cook, Root and Jon Trott as the "three verbs".

The Oval gave us a great 5th test and a good series. good send-off for AC.India fought back on day 5 with two big partnerships. Then the tail collapsed at the end.

The Indian opener Rahul looks impressive GTR as does their new keeper/batsman Pant.
It could be a long Summer coming up for us against India especially if Kohli, Rahul, Dhawan, Rahane, Pujara & Pant get going against our bowling attack as I cant see our batsmen doing much against Bumrah, Sharma, Shami, Ashwin & Jadeja and co!

Was talking about this today.In English conditions they would flog us good and proper .Can there bowlers swing the ball in the air over here?
