The BBL has started and even though I am a test cricket fan first and foremost, I find the 20 over game quite interesting to watch due to the almost nonstop action and razzamatazz. The Scorchers are going to find it difficult to defend their title given a combination of the absence of the 3 Australian reps, injuries to players and now the awful news about Michael Klingers wife. Apparently they only have 9 fit players in their main squad so have added Bosisto and young Phillipe in as specialist batsmen. The Scorchers still have an excellent bowling attack but will struggle to make enough runs to defend. I was watching Marcus Stoinis's innings for the Stars last night and thinking how valuable he would be for the Scorchers. All cricket fans thoughts are with Michael Klingers wife and family and I hope her treatment gets rid of that awful disease.

Totally agree Mike.... here's hoping for a positive outcome for the Klinger clan. Not sure Bosisto is a T20 batsman TBH....good at the longer form but a big hitter I think not. Phillipe seems to like to play his shots.... hopefully Inglis can showcase his talent in the comp....wouldn't Agar be a better option to open instead of Willey?....Is Green playing as a batsman only due to injury....would like to think bowling wise The Scorchers will be ok with Johnson, Paris, Richardson, Willey, Agar and Turner.....any other good young players in grade cricket worth a go?

The Stars need 46 runs of 26 balls. If the Scorchers wins they have done well to defend 140.Also bowled and fielded well last Saturday on the SCG.

I have just watched a short "highlights" package of the Stars game.

Who is the high pitched, screeching commentator?

ps the Scorchers won. :)

Thanks - makes sense ........... Ponting has a fairly high-pitched voice.

Bloody atrocious to listen to but. :(

nah...there's a female on the commentators panel as well....I can't remember her name but she was co-commentating the Scorchers game.

How we change. I find that my favourite format of cricket is now the 20/20 version. Love watching it and it doesn’t matter who is playing. Still love me tests, but bbl is like watching a footy match. Saying that, the Ashes series is up there as well.

Great win by the Scorchers on Boxing Day after being 3 for 10. Cartwright, Voges and Agar combined to make enough runs to make a competitive score and then the bowlers all contributed to a team effort. They were helped by some bizarre batting by Handscomb, Wright and Maxwell in the first 6 overs when you would swear they were chasing 200 instead of 140.
What I really like about the Scorchers is that apart from Willey, they are all WA players and there is a real team culture about the squad as Langer does not tolerate egos and any overseas pros have to buy into the ethos. 9 out of the 11 players are able to bowl if required and they can bat down to number 10 with Mitchell Johnson in that spot. They will be hard to beat again this year, particularly if some of the injured players and Aussie reps are available later.
