Congratulations again lads.

Said the same thing last year AR, but I think they should have awarded Queensland the Shield a week ago. The Sheffield Shield final is a complete irrelevance played on the first weekend of footy, generally on a deliberately placid pitch which makes it virtually impossible for the visiting team to win the game. This final has been even more of a waste of time becuase it was played at the Allan Border field which has terrible drainage and even though the sun shone all of day 1, play was abandoned because the outfield was too wet. The reason that the Gabba couldnt be used was that the AFL had the booking.........

One way they could improve on the Shiled final is to play it to the end -- no draws. In that way, if the away side is good enough to get twenty wickets they will win the shield whether the home side has made 600 in the first innings or not.
