Awful news for Behrendorff, the mail is that he may not play shield again this season and will just concentrate on the Scorchers. If that is true it is a real shame because without doubt he has the ability to play test cricket but maybe his body is just not up to the longer form of the game. Great to see Mitch Marsh generating a lot of pace in his last spell today and Kelly did a great job to restrict the Queenslanders when they looked like they were going to run down the target.
As well as Berendorff, Cartwright collided with a concerete fence today trying to save a boundary and looked like he had injured himself and Short also looked a bit proppy so the injuries are mounting up for the Warriors. As you said before BH maybe its time to give youngsters like Hinchcliffe and Phillipe a look in as they have both played well in grade and representative cricket this year. I also noticed that Ashton Agar played grade cricket on the weekend so surely he would have to come back into the team next week as the bowling desperately needs someone who can provide the attack with a bit of variety and not leak 4 or 5 runs an over like most of the bowlers have been doing for the last two games.

Langer has bred a very fragile group - other sides know full well if they hang in long enough the deck of cards collapses & blows away in the wind very easily particularly in the long format.
Adam Griffith should have been installed at the beginning of the year

That's a big call Southerner, they have had injuries to bowlers in the past two games.

I think it was always a big call as others have mentioned to not play enough specialist batters. There will be days when all these all rounders fire, but there will be times we get bowled out cheaply because we lack specialist batters. Yes I get they are batting all rounders, but they are not specialists.

Now the challenge for JL and the WA cricket administration, as I see it is does he stay the distance with his plans around playing a lot of all rounders, pushing up scoring rates and having multiple options with the ball, knowing that he may need to go backwards a bit this year while a few players learn more tricks to go forwards in the future, or does he panic and revert back to what everyone else is doing, which is 5 specialist batters, 1 all rounder, 1 keeper and 4 front line bowlers.

Interesting hey?

I think the game may be scheduled to start on Sunday so depending on the state of the ground there would be some play from Monday onwards and they can play extra time on those days. From what I have seen on forecasts the worst of the weather will be over by sunday lunchtime. Having said that they could transfer the game to Perth where it will be perfect conditions!

PH: Why is he trying to re-invent the cricket wheel? None of the sides he played in for WA and Australia had a great all-rounder, and yet, generally they prosperred. Moody was servicable with the ball, nothing more. Goodness, all he has to do is look at the recent test win last week: we had six batsman one keeper and four bowllers.

Good to see we had a win vs Future Australia at the WACA yesterday wrapped up in 3 days.
Promising young fast bowlers Mackin (6/43) & Kelly (4/25) picked up all 10 FA 2nd innings wickets between them.
We now lose S.Marsh, M.Marsh, Bancroft & Richardson to the South Africa tour for the rest of the Shield season hopefully a few more young blokes get an opportunity to play first class cricket in their absence.

Great win which puts them back in the hunt for a finals berth. Once the 20/20 series is over WA will get Tye, Agar and Stoinis back which will add a bit of experience but they will have to do without them for at least 1 or possibly two games. Jono Wells will probably replace Sean Marsh and perhaps Joel Paris could get a look in if fit. I wonder if Simon Mackin may be considered as a replacement if Bird doesnt get up for the tour of South Africa (for those who didnt hear Bird strained a hamstring yesterday) Mackin has been pretty consistent this year although Sayers would be the obvious choice

Mikeh, surely Darcy Short gets a go also? To me he is a better option opening than Bossisto? Thoughts

AR, sorry I didn't see your question, I have no idea why he is trying to pick a side with heaps of all rounders, Like you I think the formula is 6 batters, a keeper and 4 bowlers. I

interesting they picked the young kid Bevelaqua because they needed 5 bowlers, and he gets 2 overs in the second innings? Sort of defeats the purpose of playing him if they won't bowl him
