I thought I would rise to hte occassion and set up a thread on cricket dealling with bad behaviour or controversy.

Australia:
the refusal of the team to travel in 1912 because of a dispute with the board
bodyline
the Mackiff incident
Turner running into Thommo
the Snow incident and England's threaten walk off
WSC
Lilliee and Marsh, and Botham and Miandad, and that stupid bat he used
Warne for being banned
Waugh and Warne again
Mcgrath and Sarwan
Richards and Rixon
the young opener whom nearly cost us the test match by running off the ground.
Micheal Slater and his sacking
KJ resignning

England
inventting one day cricket
inventting twenty-twenty cricket
the Gatting incident with the Pk umpire
bodyline
Artherton and his sand
Botham and Lilliee
Collingwood running out the NZ batsman
Tony Greig manladding Kallicharan in the WI
Ben Stokes on and off the field
the Gooch hand ball
the dug-up pitch

International

Cronje scandel
Colin Croft in NZ
Michael Holding in NZ
Clive Llyodd and Richards having a sook -- Holding had to captain the side in their absence
Griffith for throwing

Hilditch hadball
the Murli nonsnese
Pakistan refussing to play under umpire Hare.
the Gavaskar walk off-- India were a few steps from conceding the test that day.

I have dne it very quickly, please feel free to add to it or comment. Does everyone remember most of those incidents?

Nearly cost us a test? The score was 1/80 odd on day one and we won by 300+ runs

The WACA seemed to attract its share of issues. The Javed/ Lillee incident was there as well as the Hilditch hand ball which was a retribution for an earlier 'mankad' on a Pakistani batsman. Also there was the Alderman incident with the spectator where he dislocated his shoulder in 1982.

the bloke from Queensland -- BH. The whole thing was highly irregular,, which is why the umpire and Smith got involved -- it was just as well the captain was out there with him. AR Border would have physically restrainned him from leaving the ground, because of the danger of conceding the test match. He would have had to bat on if they had been nine wickets down, that is sure and certain.

mikeh: that is true -- the WACA ground was also where the Murali nonsense -- whatever side of the fence one sits on the chap's action -- blew up. I think it was the TM where Slater made a double hundred in quick
time.

A couple more -- the under arm affair; jim Higgs incident; Lawson standding on his wicket; Australia going through a whole series in 1970 without a leg before wicket decision being given against its batsmen.

The WACA has also has had its fair share of playing records or actually near records too Mike & AR like fastest Test 100's I think out of the Top 10 the WACA has had more than its fair share Adam Gilchrist, Chris Gayle, David Warner, Roy Fredericks et al.

I can remember Glen McGrath taking 8/24 against the Pakis about 10 or so years back as well plus I have tried to forget Curtley Ambrose's 7/1 in a spell back in the 90s!
Throw in a couple of hat trick's including Mervs remarkable one over 3 overs and 2 Innings and Glen McGrath's both vs the Windies.
Warnies 99 when caught on the boundary off Vettori from the biggest no ball in history just about!

BH: brill -- few more from the batting side: 380 from Hayden; near 300 from Taylor; 356 from Richards 355 from Geoff Marsh; 10-44 from Brayshaw, definitely a unique ground in the annals of the game

Remember when some mob (was it SGIO?) had that comp where if a batsman hit their sign, they’d give them a shitload of money? I was at the match (WAvNSW) when Mark Waugh hit it. The NSW supporters went berko. They also kicked our arses.

Or the Waught twins both scoring double centuries in a 1990 Shield game, for a partnership of 450+, against a WA attack including Alderman, Reid, Matthews, Moody and MacLeay.

Or Mark Greatbatch batting for nearly 11 hours to save a test match for the Kiwis on an absolutely plumb WACA wicket in 1989. I was there, and bloody hell, it was hard to watch.
