Well Labor has copped a flogging in the Darling Range by election, 10% swing back to the libs, the fraudster that Labor put in the seat and the shambolic pre-selection process got pay back in spades, but lets not forget McGowan was front and centre leading the way with his presidential style vote for me Sneakers campaign, people rejected him as much as Urban.

Bazza are you seriously trying to extrapolate the result of last Saturday's by-election into a referendum on the state government? Under most circumstances it was always likely that Darling Range would revert back to its traditional side of politics.

Are you seriously trying to say McGowans leadership had no impact at all on the result?

Not even close to affecting a single vote in the context of the debacle of the former member and Labor's initial candidate.

They more than likely selected the best candidate in the entire elsection eventually, but the damage was done .
But don't by elections generally go against the ruling Government any way.But a 10% swing back is huge.

a/man Darling Range is traditionally a Liberal/Country Party held seat. Something that Bazza conveniently chose to ignore. So given the fiasco that occurred it is hardly a shock it reverted back to the Liberal Party.

The last Federal by-election to swing to the government was in 1920..
These four coming up are the acid test for Billy

Given that the Turnbull government could fall on the outcome of the seats in Western Australia it is a damning indictment of the contempt the Turnbull government has for West Australians, and a special level of contempt shown by Turnbull's Western Australian ministers Bishop, Cormann, Whatt and Porter, that the Liberals chose not to field candidates in Perth and Fremantle.

If G Downer fails to win Mayo it clearly and demonstrably a repudiation of the IPA/Liberal Party's agenda to smash the working class and to reward the richest in Australia.
