It's a Labor Party slush fund at taxpayers expense. Even the big fake cheques they present to the relevant group have a photo of the local Labor member on it....it was so obviously tainted that now flip flop has said an independent body will now decide who gets what.

As you correctly point out pork barrelling is nothing new but this has taken it to a whole different level when there's no application process, no guidelines on how the funds should be distributed other than satisfying senior cabinet members it will benefit the Labor party. How is that fair, transparent and open to all? Anyway, back to the subject....I wonder how many times Bob Hawke used his position to set up clandestine meetings with his mistresses? I reckon if someone cared to investigate he'd make Barnaby look like a choir boy.

While I am no admirer of Truffles, I actually give him a bit of kudos for yesterday's press conference, where he called out Joyce's conduct, and signalled his new "no office bonking" policy.

There is no chance the rest of the agrarian socialists are going to jeopardise their current perks on the government benches, by supporting an inevitable motion of no confidence when Parliament resumes in a couple of weeks. After all, their time is limited, with the easily predictable result at the next election.

The bloke is an absolute bloody train wreck and needs to go, the longer he stays the more off the rails he goes, and that's coming from a long time supporter.

I'm not a huge fan either and don't think he's an indispensable talent on the front bench but don't believe he should get the elbow for knocking off one of his staffers and shooting down to Canberra for a couple of dirty weekends. When you consider the things others get up to in draining the public purse I don't really think he's at the worst end of the scale.

Certainly for me, rather than his shagging the help, it is his world class hypocrisy (google Gardasil) and draining of the public purse (2 jobs for the girlfriend) that should see him on the back benches (at the least).

The whole sordid tale is a poor reflection on Joyce, nobody else. Yet he went on the attack today and further exacerbated the damage caused to the government. He is now trying to damage the Prime Minister directly in a bid to save his own skin. And that's as low as it gets.

What and to whom is his business. However, there are legitimate questions for him to answer with respect to the Ministerial code of conduct and he also needs to explain his presence in Canberra when parliament was not sitting.

Further what sort of government is it when the person who should be acting PM is told to go on holidays. Then the next person who should be the acting PM, Julie Bishop, is told she should stay out of the country. And the reason, Turnbull is too scared of losing his job.

Problem being swan, is that people such as your good self are worried about his personal life which has no bearing on the running of our country. I don't have to tell you that fidelity/ infidelity is rife, it's a human trait. As I said, he doesn't particularly thrill me, but I've had a gutsful of this gutter trash news reporting. Too many people rely on press opinion to form their own opinion. Press have concentrated on this rubbish, why don't they put the bagman under the same scrutiny???
As for Turnbull, he reminds me of Andrew Peacock. People thought " who the fk is he and when do we get rid of him"?

I have specifically not spoken about what he has done and with whom; I have spoken about expenses claims, questions about the number of days he was in Canberra when parliament was sitting and whether he has broken the ministerial code.

If Joyce goes then flip flop McGowan should do likewise over the $39m grants scandal.

Rubbish BC, this isn't about him having an affair, this is more to do with extremely dubious travel expenses and even more dubious high paying jobs creations for his mistress!
And on McGowan, $39m grants "scandal", give us a break, royalties for regions was the biggest pork barreling of all time.
