Kings Park is the largest inner city park in the WORLD even bigger than Central Park in NYC, and that is before you get to the hundreds of unique native species it has, that alone craps on anything Melbourne has, a few roses and oak tress you can see in London done better.

You probably should visit Melbourne s parks and gardens first before dismissing them all as inferior Bazza. It is a shame Kings Park alone did not alleviate Perth to numero uno - unfortunately there are other factors to gauge.

I've been to just about all of them and I might as well of been in pommie land, they were designed by homesick Brits to make it look as much like home as possible , in fact most of Melbourne is, probably because the weather was pretty much the same..lol

How many people here have actually lived in Melbourne and not just visited occasionally on a good time boys footy trip weekend?
Give me Perth every day of the week...far better weather and natural beauty, cleaner, easier to get around etc...I should stop as it might encourage more people to come live here!!! ;)

Spent a fair bit of time there, but nup never actually lived there, seen a fair bit of Vic, Mornington and Bellarine Peninsulas , Out to Ballarat etc..
Couldn't think of a worse place to live, after a few Days Im ready to get out of the joint, youd have to be a real indoors sort of a joker, everyone seems to stay inside most of the year, or walking around rugged up like they are in the north pole, most people look miserable like the weather and with the place getting more and more over crowded with new arrivals its getting worse, house prices through the roof, congestion.
Adelaide is not bad on a human scale , but you need to take your own candles and the river is a joke.

Bizarre that such a dump like Melbourne should not only be named most livable city but have so many new arrivals wanting to live there! Bazza I think you might have to admit it has something going for it.

I am happy to live in Perth and hold this side of the Indian Ocean basin for Western civilisation. One thing people should realise, as has been said above, the hot summers here are bloody awful -- unbearable without an air-conditioner. In addition, speaking as a life long Socialist I would rather live under a WA Tory than Daniel Andrews.

I enjoy our summers , hardly used the AC last one and grew up here with no AC at all.

Yeah crime is rampant there and Andrews has no clues.

The vast majority of arrivals coming into Melbourne now are from Calcutta , not leaving much behind are they.

The Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne were established in 1846. Kings Domain in 1854.Land was reserved for the Fitzroy Gardens in 1848. Captain Cook's Cottage and over 1,000 trees including an avenue of 250 Dutch and English Elms are located there. Yes all built by homesick Brits. Of course that sort of thing did not happen in Perth. Out of curiosity where do you stand on Australia becoming a republic?

Are all boring at batshit and nothing unique, btw, Perth is older than Melbourne.

Anyway wtf is your story you seem obsessed with sticking up for Melbourne, piss off over there if its so great.

As far as the republic goes , Im a proud Australian and like the constution as it is, I base that on political judgemenf not bloody tree species.
