According to one of my face book sources Lewis has signed a 3 year deal with Melbourne. Of course this is subject to a suitable trade being organised with Hawthorn as he is under contract for 2017 with them.
Also according to the same source, Tom Rockcliff is almost certain to go to the Dees as well, subject to suitable compensation for Brisbane

As Bill Lawry would say " Its all happening" . The next few days will be very interesting!

Thats great news for the D's.Two quality players added to there list.Paul Roos has now departed but it looks like hes got them in the position they will be happy with.Without the improvement they made in the last couple of years it would be hard to attrack players of that quality.

At 30 years of age Jordan Lewis is a much better prospect than a 34 year old Sam Mitchell though it will cost Melbourne a lot higher pick or player trade. Hawthorn will be unrecognizable next year. Hodge won't have those familiar voices around him he knew exactly where they would be and Cyril might not get the supply he's used to. He might actually have to go into the middle and win some midfield footy. There must still be doubt whether Roughhead will ever play again.

DD, I don't think the Eagles will be overly concerned about this. They wanted him because of his prospects as a coach - that's why they made contact with Hawthorn some time ago. If he can play out a season or 2 is really a bonus.

Mitchell is twice the player Lewis is even at the age of 34.

Sharky I'm not knocking the Eagles signing of Mitchell, they've virtually got him for nothing so whatever you get out of him on the field is a massive bonus. Just a pity Nic Nat will not be available in 2017. Can you imagine Mitchell feeding off that?

Disagree PN, Lewis is an A grader and hard as nails, probably the only difference is he is predominantly left sided. I don't think there has ever been a player more accomplished on both sides of his body than Sam Mitchell. Willy Dick springs to mind.
