Yeah heard all that, also heard they will not play in a regular AFL Eagles jumper.

Where does this leave WAFL fans who are also Eagles fans, do they jump ship ??

I sincerely hope that Gavin Taylor will ensure that the supporters of the WAFL club that is forced to play a curtain raiser 3 HOURS before the AFL Game will only pay the entry fee for a WAFL game.

So TAYLOR doesn't want East Perth to finish last. Ditto West Perth. Ditto the EAGLES RESERVES TEAM

WHO DOES HE WANT TO FINISH LAST?

I THOUGHT THAT ALL THE GAMES WERE SUPPOSED TO BE PLAYED AT THE WAFL CLUB'S HOME GROUND.

42 in the interview that question was asked. The interviewer was a Wafl umpire so he knows the Wafl.Comissioner Taylor was considering Afl curtain raisers.

Bazza as you WELL know this is not a Swans' thing at all. We have decisions made by the WAFC to fund the rescue of West Perth. We have had a decision made to financially reward East Perth for getting into bed with the Eagles. We have had a decision to agree to an Eagles's stand-alone team in the WAFL and YES I am absolutely DISGUSTED that Swans have voted for it. We had one team once again dominate the WAFL.

I have supported Swans from the 1960s and in that period we have won many wooden spoons. As others have posted on this forum how are some clubs supposed to compete on an equal footing with the decisions that the WAFC are making?

Cheer up Swan42 you’ll be every chance to win at least 4 games next year being those against WC & EP.

Your comment re financially rewarding EP seems to indicate you don’t comprehend the funding situation. From the article it appears they are simply getting the same amount as the other stand alone clubs. Seems fair to me. Let’s not forget every club had the opportunity to consider becoming aligned. 5 expressed an interest, Peel & EP entered the agreement. Don’t see why EP should be punished. They will be the easy beats of the comp for mine.

I suspect I know why the EP president voted for this stuff, perhaps even Peelmantle and even WP (the commission would have told them given they ae no longer a stand alone team) but the others need to explain why they went done the path like sheep.

I think the fundmental issue of a stand alone team is what many wanted 5 years ago, how it is managed is another issue, where the games are played, the competitiveness or not of the team etc.
We live in a time where intelligent people are being silenced so stupid people won't be offended

This will be an interesting one Baz. As an Eagles supporter, I may even sign up again now that they have removed that dag hanging off their back end. As for their team in the WAFL, there is no way I'll be leaving my beloved Sharks....ever.

See below Swans's response to The West's article:

Dear Members and Supporters,

'The West Australian' reported this morning 11/10/18 that the Council of Presidents voted unanimously to support the introduction of a 10th WAFL team into the WAFL from the West Coast Eagles.

In what is a very contentious issue we want to make a few things very clear. At the meeting the WAFL CoP was asked to consider only three things as the details of any recruiting, points and top up players was still to be worked through and would be completed by the end of October. The three items we were asked to consider were:

1: Would we allow a WCE stand alone team into the WAFL?

Considering the enormous benefit our AFL clubs provide to football throughout WA and understanding the need for the WCE to develop their players within a strong competition unanimous conditional support was provided.

2: Would we accept the proposed financial model?

Again due to the significant funding generated by the AFL clubs into football in WA which is appreciated by all, this model was accepted with a review to occur at the conclusion of 2019 to ensure there has been a positive financial impact to the WAFL and WAFL clubs.

3: Would we accept commercialisation of the WCE team?

The Swan Districts Football Club has strong concerns over the long term effect on membership, and general support of WAFL clubs. Currently many WAFL supporters and their children support a WAFL club and an AFL club. To have a branded WCE team in the WAFL will no doubt affect the allegiances of the next generation of football followers which will have a negative impact on the traditional WAFL clubs. The Swan Districts Football Club does not accept that commercialisation of the WCE reserves team serves the purpose intended. A key element of a stand alone WCE team is to develop and nurture their players in a strong competition. Commercialisation does not add anything to this key area.

A vote was taken and the result was 8-1 so no unanimous decision was met.

Considering point 3 directly relates to the conditions supporting point 1 the point 1 is also not unanimous.

The position of the Swan Districts Football Club is that in consideration of the above conditions we do not support the introduction of the WCE as a 10th team in the WAFL.
