Grant Campbell was still a pretty good Centre Half Forward over 200 games for EP and a few State games for WA then a few at $ubi at the end of his career. Was signed on the old form four with North Melbourne at a young age but never went over in the end.

Spot on Southerner. IIRC Hendriks replaced West Perths oldest player at that time Peter Steward (Ex North melbourne) in the starting 18.

Agree BH carved out a good career, maybe not as big as was been touted when he burst onto the scene, but pretty good all the same

a pretty good footballer Campbell; I remember watching him play at CHB against Bradmore in an ANZAC Day clash at Subiaco in the middle 80s. Playing on Bradmore at his peak, he curbbed his influence, and in the end, EP won in an upset.

Tbh I thought Campbell was very ordinary for Subi, his form also went missing in his last year or two with the royals. Can anyone remember who we swapped for him?

Im not 100% sure but the timings were around the same. Bevan Warner & Gavin Hawkins might have done a swapsy a couple of years beforehand ditto Dawson.
I reckon Hooper would have run through Basil Zempilas in one of his early games at EP ...I would have paid good money to see that!!

Grant Campbell lived down the road from me when we where going to school.Back in that era you had to be aged 22 of played 65 Wafl games before you could go to the Vfl Thats why North signed the form 4..Grant was rushed into league footy but was not physically ready.Thats why he had the knee problems.
