From the online West this morning

Fremantle have confirmed six players will definitely miss Saturday's final home-and-away game against Port Adelaide.

Matthew Pavlich, Aaron Sandilands, Luke McPharlin, David Mundy, Stephen Hill and Lee Spurr have all been ruled out of the round 23 clash.

Defender Cam Sutcliffe has recoved from his shoulder injury and will be available for the first AFL final the following weekend.

Michael Walters will not be risked after being a late withdrawal for Sunday's comfortable home win over Melbourne which secured Fremantle the minor premiership.

Lyon said he was still considering whether to give Michael Johnson, Nick Suban, Chris Mayne and Danyle Pearce the week off before the finals begin, after the club yesterday indicated up to 11 players could be rested.

So what this means is that many of the players who have regularly played for Peel this year and who have been largely responsible for them being in 3rd position on the ladder will be in Adelaide on Saturday. Included in this group will probably be guys like Hannath, Grey, Ballard, Tanner Smith, Blakley, Taberner, Duffy, Weller, Langdon and Crozier as well as another 3 or 4 who have been rotating between the Dockers team and Peel.

So pretty much 2 thirds of the normal team will be unavailable. They will all be back for Peels second final and thus the team will be a lot more competitive on the 2nd weekend of finals but unfortunately the damage to the credibility of the WAFL competition will be longer lasting considering this as well as the channel 7/9 farce.

Really hoping the Tigers can put a spanner in the works there by knocking off the Regals!

Single set and straight sets losses for the two is certainly what anyone who is interested in the WAFL hopes will happen.

Claremont's record over East Perth this season has been good. Round 9 it was a 39 point victory to Claremont Round 20 it was East Perth by 10 points. The Elimination Final should be a competitive one.
This week Peel Thunder will be drawing players from their reserves team who are last on the ladder with two wins. It's all perceived that West Perth are certainties but they can't go in with an attitude of "we just show up" or they will get beat. You can guarantee these players making their debut will be very motivated with a lot at stake to play for.
West Perth must go in with the same mindset as they done in previous matches. This is what has made them finish second on the ladder.

I'm sure Bill won't let them fall into that trap Frank. All they need to do is focus on their own preparation and not be worried about what the opposition are doing.

Agreed. West Perth simply need to prepare themselves as normal. Not get distracted at all. Winning 9 out of their 10 Home games this season, would give them confidence knowing they have the second best Home ground advantage in the league. The 'so called' commission also has tried to distract West Perth earlier with the stupid story they invented, but failed!

Had to laugh at Cam Shephard's interview on 91.3 when he said this is proof that there is a pathway at Peel for their local youngsters, what !!! Good luck in there single opportunity this w/end as regardless the form of any that come up, they will go straight down again.

I suppose as Senior Coach Shepherd would feel obliged to say what he has, but does he really deep down believe that Jones, Jetta, Bootsma, Ugle, a few other Peel league players, a handful of Dockers players that they don't want to take to Adelaide and about 10 reserves players can actually take the fight up to West Perth on their home ground? I doubt it.

Thomas has now been colts coach at West Perth since 2011 and has done a tremendous job producing and developing talent to go on to play in the AFL or quality league WAFL football.
