Swans are heading into record breaking territory on Saturday for all the wrong reasons. A loss on Saturday by the SDFC at Bassendean will be their 10th consecutive defeat on their home turf, stretching back to the June long weekend last year. If this occurs it will be the first time since 1957 (yes you read it right) that Swans have lost that many games in a row at Bassendean. It happened a few times in the 1950's when we were cannon fodder ( 12 in 1950- 51 is the record) SInce the 50's there has been only 1 other occasion where Swans have lost 9 in a row (1994-95). Not even in our dire season of 2016 under Harding did we lose 9 in a row at home
This is an indicator of how poorly this current team is performing and how desperately they now need a victory to fend off this unwanted record.
In their favour is that the Eagles AFL team are currently managing a crop of injuries and suspensions and this will no doubt have a flow on effect to the WAFL team, so we may well be playing an understrength team. The Selectors must reward some of the reserves boys who have been part of the last two victories but the whole team must tackle this game with the same intensity that they showed from the very first bounce against Subiaco. Finals are a long way away now, probably out of reach but there is pride and the history of the club to play for.

What a damning statistic you have brought up there Mike, absolutely embarrassing and it is staggering that we are still producing some of the best home crowds in the League, though after watching disappointing loss after loss I doubt many will be back again until there is some sort of improvement.

Eagles Reserves to win by 10+ goals.

Swans by 36 points - based entirely on what I've seen from both clubs so far

The losses by Swans so far have been less than 20 points I think.
Swans should be able to secure a win in this match. Remembering they gave Subiaco a damn good run for their money not long ago.
Was only in the last bit of the final quarter that Swans ran out of petrol that allowed Subi to grab the 4 points.
If Swans can bring the same mindset to this match, there is no reason for not winning. It's incredible they are ninth on the league ladder and yet have a % of over 95. The team listing later in the week is going to be interesting.
I have pencilled in a win for the black and whites by 2 goals.

And the likes of Schofield, Nelson, Rotham, Brander & co didnt play at all last week but have been declared fit for this weekend so they will be a lot stronger than they were vs EP not that it matters much as we wouldnt beat them with 22 top ups playing as we would still roll over like a puppy dog on our former feared home deck!

The Eagles team looks understrength due to the loss of their players to replace injured and suspended guys in their AFL team. Looking through their squad they seem to be there for the taking but can Swans take them and avert that unwanted record?. I'm not taking anything for granted because I have walked away from Bassendean disappointed on a number of occasions this year. The most crushing was last week when my expectations were high. The only two going out from the EF game are Ellard and Maguire. Raynor and Coniglio rewarded for good performances in the reserves. Dave Ellard has really been struggling this year due to the fact that he was injured in the pre-season and I wonder what his playing future holds to be honest.

Mike take no notice of the WAFL website Ins and Outs each week they are incorrect and a dogs breakfast.
Our correct Ins are Raynor, Italiano (both named in the starting 18), Daniels, Coniglio & D.Smith.
Have a look at our opposition for another example both Hickey & Nelson listed as Outs when Hickey played for WCE League vs Melbourne last Friday Night and Nelson was the left over emergency ffs.
EF Outs listed as Bonomelli & Robinson this week played in the Reserves vs us last week ffs, EP have 2 Ins & somehow 5 Outs (are they playing 3 short ffs), SF have no Ins or Outs despite listing 25 players, Colyer listed as an In for Peelmantle when he actually played for them last week it goes on and on.....not bloody good enough it is not that hard surely?!

Have heard Swan Districts are paying $1.40 for the Win which is quite good.
