Great opportunity for Swans to consolidate their spot in the top 5 and to put some more distance between us and a team that would have been seen as a genuine rival. The Tigers have been a bit unfortunate in the last few weeks, they had a great victory over South at Fremantle and lost to Perth and Peel narrowly so they could have easily been higher on the ladder that they are now.

We only have to think back to last years visit to Claremont Oval to realise how dangerous they can be. On that day we got thumped by 11 goals and our record over the last 6 or 7 years in that part of the world ( showgrounds or oval) hasnt been much to write home about. Most recent win at Claremont was 2013 which was the day of the infamous Murray Newman walk out at quarter time.

One thing is for certain, the boys cannot afford to turn up at the start of the game with the same lacksadasical attitude as last week or they will be smashed big time.

Even though Claremont have some big Outs this week, it's still a good team running out on the field this week. If Swan Districts rock up and just think they've won already, it will be to their peril. Given the fact we are half way through the season already, they can consolidate fourth possie on the league ladder. And not let the teams above them get too far ahead. Souths , Subiaco and West Perth should all be having Wins in their respective matches and Swans would love the four points in the bank too.
Conversely for Claremont, one feels the season is slipping away and they would not to drop this match. They have lost their past 3 Home matches and their Home ground advantage is shot to pieces. One feels this will be the make or break game for Claremont for this season. Swans should win by about three goals.
Apparently rain is forecast for game day with showers predicted for the afternoon / evening and a maximum temperature of 21ยบ. Should be the match of the day this one.
Goes without saying, just jump on the on-line Footy radio for an excellent call of said match.

Yep it is a good Tigers outfit led by Mitchell and Bolton. I find it hard to believe that they have only won 2 games to date. Maister is back too I notiice and he always gives us problems. Claremont will see this as a chance to resurrect their season so they will be desperate and our boys need to be ready for that.

Wow worth a few bucks on Claremont given Swans appalling record there. If Swans win they will be very comfortably placed at 6 wins and 3 losses leading into the bye and the next fixture against Subiaco.

Even better odds with the TAB.
Claremont $3.45
Swans $1.28.

Strange odds with the TAB the last couple of weeks. Before we played East Perth both them and us were $13 for the Flag. After we won we went out to $17 to $13 and after we beat Perth we are now $21. I suppose it doesn't matter that much when the best you can get on Subi at the moment is $1.40.

Well done Claremont. Too good and wanted it so much more. Swans played one decent quarter of footy today which is never going to be good enough. I thought that Claremont were there for the taking at 3 quarter time but we didn't fire a shot in the last quarter. Very disappointing and a lost opportunity that they may rue come finals time.
I couldn't understand why Blakely was left on the ground when he was obviously struggling to move. The opposition defence were running off him in the last quarter and we couldnt create any goal scoring opportunities

Apparently a close scoring match all afternoon. It seems Claremont wanted the ball more in the final term. I think Claremont had 7 or 8 scoring shots in the last quarter to Swan Districts 1 scoring shot.
A good result for the competition.

Congratulations 'Monts. This match showed that Swans still have some way to go to really challenge for 1, 2, or 3. Noble being forced into the ruck to cover Blakely's injury really did rob Peter to pay Paul. Noble played well, but the move took our only firing forward away from the scoring end of the ground; but Swans simply lacked options. In the last we bombed into the forward line and hoped for the best...and I am sorry, Stewart and Dean were off today.

Turner gets better and better every game, but team fitness - or lack of it - appeared to tell in the last.

Okay, a loss yes, but I think that everyone knows that Swans are really a 'work in progress' and there were a few positives today also.
