This is an important game to win if Swans want to condolidate their hard fought victory over East Perth last week. We have already dropped one game at home this year and cannot afford too many slip ups at Bassendean if we have ambitions of featuring in finals.
This is certainly a game Swans should win however Perth will be no pushovers as they demonstrated when they competed with the Subiaco juggernaut for 3 quarters last week.
Swans need to attack the game with the same ferocity as we did last week from the first bounce.
With the game starting at 2.50,it will be finishing in semi dusk so hopefully the lights are up to the required standard. Its lucky that the weather will be fine.

The weather for todays matches looks like being Fine and a maximum temperature of 19º
Apparently the weather turns pear shaped on Monday afternoon.
Swans percentage isn't real flash and I'm sure the team knows this.
Swans should be winning this match by 25 to 30 points? As demonstrated last week, Perth will be having a red hot go and Swans will need to be switched on.
Apparently Swan Districts are at odds of 2/9 for the win. Which I think equates to about a 80% predicted chance of winning this match. Apparently Perth are quoted at 13/4.
With West Perth looking the goods in their match, Swan Districts would be eager for a win here to stay in touch with the teams above them on the league ladder.

Great effort by SD to keep their composure and win the game....sounded like Perth didn't come out of the sheds after half time....

I am very happy with the fightback and victory however all this was overshadowed by the disgraceful light conditions in the last quarter. It was an insult to WAFL players to expect them to play in training lights particularly when the game was up for grabs at 3 quarter time. It demonstrates the complete disdain that the WAFC and Channel 7 have for our competition, just filling in time before the start of an AFL game.

At the 25-minute mark of the second quarter Perth were up 40 points 12.4 to 5.6 and their tight, niggling tactics were getting under the skin of a few Swans. After that, Swans kicked 12.7 to P 1.3. Difficult to pin the comeback on a single incident or phase in the game, but:

Warwick Wilson’s third quarter was superb;
Palmer broke his tag and with Riggio picking up kicks, Swans began getting drive out of the middle;
Noble’s three in the second half (five for the game).

Exactly Michael. Have been saying the same for quite some time. Just shows there are too many official numpties! At this time of the year the outside conditions become dark quickly. Is certainly a bad look for the competition for sure.

Well done Swans.

Just adding to comments re the lighting that was a total and utter disgrace. I have never seen footy played in gloomier conditions. It must have been dangerous, it was certainly disrespectful.

No impact whatsoever on the result but come on WAFC there has to be some public comment on this. If it happened in an AFL game it would have simply been called off.

Swans basically didn't come to play in the first quarter and Perth took advantage. Most of Perth's goals in the first term came from players who were under little or no pressure. The contrast with the East Perth game was telling. There was a mini fight back in the 2nd quarter but Perth easily saw off that challenge and as success hill said Perth were 40 points up late in the 2nd quarter. The two goals that we got in time on of the second quarter were telling as we went into half time with a bit of momentum. We dominated early in the third but couldn't break through until late in the quarter. It was a bit strange as it seemed that Perth were 20 points up one minute and all of a sudden we crept up on them to tie the scores at 3 quarter time. The first 10 minutes of the last quarter was a real arm wrestle ( what I could see of it that is) until we gradually took control and scored the goals required. The final margin of 30 points flattered us I thought as the game was still on the line at the 20 minute mark with us only leading by 2 goals. I also thought the umpires crucified Perth in the last quarter with a few very soft decisions in our favour which led to important goals. In their defence maybe they were struggling to see the play as well.

Credit to our guys though, they dug deep when they were in a lot of trouble and our crucial midfielders, Palmer, Riggio, Turner Payne and Ellard all lifted after half time when they had been outplayed by their opponents in the first half.Noble played his best game in a black and white jumper, Warwick Wilson was very influential and is now becoming a very consistent player, Todd Banfield set the standard for tackling and pressure when our intensity lifted after half time. The defence tightened up after the long break, I was glad the TV cameras were there to capture Tony Nottes hanger in the 3rd, it was a ripper. Tobe Watson also stood out with his ability to get the ball forward in the 2nd half.
For Perth, Michael Bennell impressed with his marking and 3 goals in his first game. Too many of their players disappeared after half time though which must have disappointed their supporters. Apparently they scored 8 goals from only 9 forward 50 entries in the first quarter which is amazing efficiency.
Bad luck to the ressies who lost an exciting game with the last kick of the match and well done to the colts for winning their top of the table clash.
