The rewards for winning this match on Saturday are
1. A guaranteed finals spot
2. According to my maths a guaranteed home final
3. Keep in the running for 3rd spot and the double chance.

Lose the game and chances are we will still make the finals but we risk losing the finals game at Bassendean and will have almost no chance of the 3rd spot.

It will be tough, East Perth are in season best form and the positive for them is that a lot of it is being driven by their WAFL based players. The loss of our best midfielder will hit us very hard and the others must lift to make up for his loss.I wonder if Ellard is any chance of a return this week?

Looks like another wet day in store so this could be another low scoring slog.

Good to see Ethan Mcguire given another opportunity, he has been consistent in the reserves this year and has been promising in his league appearances. Riggio's absence will also pave the way for Freddie Clutterbuck's return. Hopefully he will play a blinder against his old team.
Don't take any notice of the East Perth supporters who downplay their team. We will have to be at our absolute best to beat these guys who are now on a real roll unlike when we played them earlier in the season.

Just over the half way mark of the second quarter, and Swans have scored 1 goal, 1 minor. Hope that is a misprint on the website? A score line of that nature would be a real concern as we approach the Finals in a few weeks. This a huge game for Swans. Hopefully they can recover and power on in the second half.

Embarrassing. No other word for it. I thought they would probably lose to the Eagles but I expected them to put up some sort of fight. Not so.

Not making any assumptions about the last two games gtr. I think there would only have been 5- 6 players who could hold their heads up after that performance today. Kirk Ugle who always gives 100% whatever is happening with the team, Crowley, Gault, Notte, Faulkner, maybe Turner. Too many of the others were not prepared to play with the required effort. If they come out with the same mindset next week, Claremont will turn them over as well, despite the fact that the Tigers have nothing to play for. East Perth seemed to have more numbers at every contest which indicated that they were working much harder than us and they looked physically a lot stronger than we were. No excuses for lack of effort though and we had so many passengers today. On the rare occasions we got the ball,we fumbled, dropped marks and generally bombed the ball to the advantage of the East Perth players.
Taryce Stewart is a player with heaps of potential but AFL scouts look for the ability of a player to play strongly in adversity and unfortunately Taryce looked pretty disinterested for the most of the day.
To top off the day Tony Notte came off in the last quarter with what looked like a knee injury, lets hope its not a serious one but it didn't look great.

Grassy wrote: Stewart doesn't sound like a Swans player to me,Mikeh.Sounds more like a Selfish Eagles Reserve, when they played like they didn't care.

Now,after that bit of sabre rattling, maybe this "kid with potential",can extract the digit and play better football for Swan Districts, amongst a few others.

He's only 18 Grassy so hopefully he can learn from the experience. He certainly had plenty of mates out there today.

Best of luck to Notte and Scott Jones. Having spoken to a few players they felt they let Crowley get away with too much intimidation of the younger players at Bassendean. The resolve was to bring a more determined effort. Having said that Swans played poorly and missed Riggio I believe.

Didn't venture down to Leedy as a little under the weather and bloody glad I didn't head down to Artic Park judging by reports on here. SD have this ugly habit of not showing up some weeks and this appears to be another episode. We have struggled v Claremont and EF in the last round, not showing up prepared to play hard in both of those matches. Highly likely we will limp thru to the end of season from here and not make finals. There has not been a season under Harding's tutelage that we have finished off strong and 2017 will end no different especially considering the coach has announced he is taking his bat & ball. A much better season by our players in 2017 but we are cooked. The only hope for this team is if the sun comes out for the remainder of the year as we are a much better team when conditions don't challenge our desire ie no wind no rain some sunshine please
