Playing the bottom team at Bassendean on Saturday should be fairly straightforward you would think but nothing can be taken for granted, particularly as Swans footy has been patchy at best over the past couple of months. A 4 quarter committed performance against East Perth sandwiched between an appalling showing at Claremont and a lacklustre effort last week against Perth in which we just did enough to get across the line. Swans are benefiting from their 4-0 start to the season which has laid a good foundation for our run at the finals.
Swans need to win this match on Saturday because things will become harder from here on in with games coming up against South Fremantle, Peel and Subiaco and in the form we are in at the moment we would struggle big time against these teams.3 more wins will probably guarantee finals footy and Swans have to make their home games count.
No Ames again this week, Riggio and Coniglio are casualties of last weeks loss so Maguire, Witjk, Power and Cipro all named and a chance to come in.
Hampson back for the Sharks, he has always performed well against Swans, McNamara back too. They look a pretty decent side on paper, hard to believe that they have only won 1 game this year.
Swans need to hit the scoreboard early unlike last week when we were playing catch up all day.

Bit of a danger game for Swan Districts I feel. East Fremantle look pretty good on paper. Also, the remaining fixtures of 2017 are probably going to be played in real wintery conditions. Unlike the first half of the season whereas the weather has been mostly fine. That puts a different perspective on a match playing in wet cold conditions. Not saying East Fremantle will prevail this week, but they have played well in weather conditions that are not so good in previous years if my memory serves correct. Swans have been patchy in recent times after the fantastic start to the season. Swans should be winning by about 25 points or thereabouts. However, they would not want to take East Fremantle lightly!

Apparently our draw is too favourable according to some in the WAFL community, so it should be a shoe in
Beneath the Southern cross i stand, on Bassendean Oval, can in hand, Swan Districts, you Farkin Beauty!

Our Colts in the process of getting pulverised...24 scoring shots to 4...hope this is not a sign of things to come later today...something in the air this morning and I don't like the smell of it.

Good to see the colts boys hang in there and fight to get 2 goals on the board. A lot of young kids would have given up. They're young remember, a few 16 year olds in the team.

Got to the ground today but disappointed to not see Yarran playing. Anyone know why they won't pick him? Saw him again yesterday at the Quinns TAB and he was a bit upset to not be playing. Wouldn't tell me why, just said politics.

Anyway looking forward to a big win today. Go Swannies!

Boy that was tight all day.The very young Shark's side won't kick the ball out of defence unless a player is in space alone. That hurt them in the last qtr.
Found a way to get over the line. With Subi.SF and Peel to come. And turned into a good day with WP losing.
Adam Faukner has worked hard on his disposal the last few years and was good today again.Swans just had players that use the ball a bit better by foot. The usual Ugle,Nott,Benell,Slater.Ellard.And a few others.

So that sick feeling almost played out albeit for a last qtr shift in attitude and a little bit of luck. A wins a win but did we really deserve it? I'm not gonna give a match wrap as what I witnessed most of today does not need re-telling. Good to see young Hackett getting among it today in his strongest senior performance to date and can't ignore the last qtr Tony Notte hang time on what was otherwise a bloody ordinary spectacle to endure. Great weather considering it's the middle of winter did nothing to improve this match's quality. I will sign off by saying I believe Rob Wiley coached really well today.

Not sure where Tony Mc gets his fixtures from, but we don't play West Perth again this season.Maybe he was looking at the 2016 fixtures. Swans last 6 games are against South Fremantle (away), Peel (home), Subiaco (away), East Perth (away), Claremont (home) and East Fremantle (home). The way we are playing at the moment I would not be confident about winning any of these games. I am still finding it hard to believe that we won today. East Fremantle were a lot cleaner than us in their disposals by both foot and hand. They controlled the ball for long periods and frustrated Swans players. We were sloppy and just bombed the ball anywhere, would have hated to be a Swans forward with the ball coming in to our 50 today. The ball seemed to go like a magnet to their spare ( Jupp?} Only a couple of individual efforts by Banners and Tarcye in the time on period got us over the line. I still can't help thinking that the better team lost today though.
