I know Ames is B & W thru n thru, dont you reckon he would be better getting an apprenticeship else where coaching wise if that was his career choice?.......just think after a life time at one club he would have more to give SD further down the line, after a year two at another club?.....though he is the ultimate role model for any WAFL wanabee......

I think Stava will do a lot of work with the midfield over the summer. He got to Swans to late to make a big impact on the midfield coaching. Some fine tuning with Adam Faukner who has no problem getting the footy.Big pre season for the younger midfielders to get them up to league tempo.Adding some ex Afl Swans players will crank up the per season training tempo.
Mike-Burnham will be another player who will improve next year with Stavas midfield coaching.

Stavros got on the wrong side of the best midfield outside the AFL ( ;) ) last year mate so I wouldnt get your hopes up too much there.....many a game EF mids had more inside 50's and possessions during Malaxos reign and still lost.....just dont let Stavros near your forwards....that 2.17 v West Adelaide in the foxtel cup plus that Subi prelim loss points bonanza still brings me out all pale n diaphoretic

Funny thing being Freeze Stavros was the most dangerous dead eye dick goalsneak I have just about ever seen in the WAFL in those early 80s he would have kicked all of those his troops missed on his ear! :silly:

The Malaxos I witnessed in action this year on match days was extremely subdued compared to his EF coaching days GTR.....but he is working with a lot younger and less experienced group now in fairness.

Good point BH.Thinking his specialist midfield coaching over the summer will bring improvements to all the mids in 17.Malaxos as a footballer was an amazing endurance athlete. He will run the km"s in to the boys.

I will be astounded if Aiden Clarke doesn't get drafted. Has a touch of class about him and poise when with ball in hand. Ricky Cary needs to start paying attention and will be twice the footballer he currently thinks he is. Cipro is a quality long term prospect for the club. Burnham needs to add more dimensions to his game. Might be best to utilise him as a tagger in future as has the smarts just needs as stated previously to tidy up his efficiency. Can't comment on Clutterbuck, haven't seen enough of him. As for Malaxos he is the best kick over 25m I have ever seen...so hope he can spend some time correcting Faulks technique. Despite Faulks faults still one of my favourite players to watch at the club...around the stoppages in particular

I would suspect Burnham may not be at swans next year. Cary can play but lacks consistency and could definitely be a confidence thing as well as the quality of disposal being directed to him. Clutterbuck will probably pull the pin and play ammos for a bit of coin.
The biggest problem at swans is the fact that the senior coach was spruking the 2017 recruits to the 2016 playing squad as early as rd 17, saying it will get better with ellard and co coming back. Doesnt give the current squad any confidence in their own abilities when the coach is talking about recruits for 2017.

I guess it took Stavros 2 GF losses and a prelim loss to realise the "spray" does not always pay......though with a few ex AFL boys coming back perhaps he was just resting his tonsils for next year! ;)
