Any reason why Sorrell was inducted into Legend status before Billy? Obviously both fellas champs of our great game, on paper with 4 Sandovers and a Simpson plus 3 flags Billy's record looks more than half decent

...is it political?........because Billy is a Kiwi by birth? ......

Freeze I know you have been away in NZ awhile now but sheesh mate.............. :S
The Australian Football Hall Of Fame began in 1996 to commemorate the supposed 100 years of Australian Football (even tho the WAFL began in 1885 & the SANFL even earlier)
-Billy Walker was inducted into the AFHOF in the inaugural intake in 1996.
-There is a legend inducted from those already in the HOF every 2 years now (none this year) of which only Graham Polly Farmer & Barry Cable of the 26 or so current Legends comes from WA (legend status is the highest honour along same lines as Rugbys Immortals)
-Ray has been inducted into the AFHOF but definitely not as a Legend old mate
Mate you should be asking the question as an Old Easts man why it has taken Ray 20 years to be inducted into the HOF (Brian Peake was only inducted a couple of years ago as well) whilst inferior players imho from a more modern era have been inducted well before them eg Mark Bickley ....pleeeease!!

It would be nothing to do with Bills place of birth.Hes allways been known as a WA Country boy to everyone. When a Kiwi becomes famous they then become Australian. We claim Russle Crowe ect.
Bill Walker has never been afraid to voice his opinion in public.Dont think he is popular with the football comission or the Afl.
In 1986 Swans where the biggest opponent to the expansion into the then VFL competition. That vote was 5/3,Swans, Perth dont remember the 3rd club maby Claremont.
Maby Bill had a crystal ball and seen the WAFL Competition of 2016.Remember without the support of the G7 back at the turn of the century the Comission would of mothballed Swans Forever.Bill was also outspoken during that period.

Fair enough Freeze.Being from NZ doesnt meen much in Aust these days. There is 1,000,000 kiwis in Sydney alone.Didnt know that about Billy or Peake.
Todays AFL is trying to get all new Aussies into AFL.Daw,Natanui all the Irish boys.Kiwis like Wayne Swass,Trent Croad,Cox from Collingwood.Pyke from Sydney.Peter Bell Korea.
Billy was an outspoken Swans President for his club and the WAFL Competition.

Billy was the only WAFL President back in 1986 with a brain who could foresee the damage that would be done to the WAFL would be irreparable whilst the others all got sucked into the quick fix VFL expansion by that ES snake oil salesman ...and guess which Pres was completely on the mark?

Bh who was the 3rd club to vote against the VFL Expansion.Swans .Perth ,Claremont?? the other club.
When Billy owned the Sterling Arms Hotel he use to talk to all his patrons about footy and everything else they wanted to talk about. My father had a few beers with Billy. He never wanted to play VFL and dont think he trusted the Vics.

For the record there were two clubs that voted against a team going into the VFL: Swan Districts and South Fremantle.
