Good to see the people running this Great club have their finger on the pulse on and off the field. Great effort to come back from nearly being $1 million in the red. Expecting a good year from the ducks with the addition of Elari and Rodgers from Perth :woohoo:

not hard to get back on track financially when you're getting $1.2 million annually in sponsorship from BHPB and Chevron...

That is true BC but the club management would of worked hard to get those sponsors and they have to keep working to maintain the deal. Swanies been up and down since Dawson has left. :woohoo:

Swans head in right financial direction

Swan Districts were $35,000 under the WAFL salary cap last season as part of the dramatic financial turnaround that saw the club return a trading profit for the year.

As former police superintendant David Parkinson was ratified as Swans president at the annual general meeting, members were informed that Swans had managed to overcome the massive $913,000 loss in 2011.

Swans reported a $24,234 loss for the 2012 year, but the figure included a depreciation amount of $86,000.

Parkinson warned that Swans faced several tough years but was pleased with the club's direction after the dire period when a salary cap investigation compounded the WAFL's biggest-ever annual club loss.

"There is still plenty of work to do and we have to continue to cut our costs," Parkinson said.

"We may not be back in the black for two years but there are some promising signs."

Swans were boosted by several sponsorship increases. BHP lifted their contribution by $160,000 to $790,000, while Chevron added an extra $285,000 to $540,000.

And the club's lucrative relationship with the Wooroloo prison team put another $174,000 into the coffers.
Expenses were also cut dramatically with Swans reporting player payments of just $182,600, significantly below the 2012 salary cap of $217,000.

With all that money being poured over the club without you having to do any real work, how in hell did you ever get 1 mill in debt? Was it complacency, ala "we don't have to worry...money is easy to get"?? Or was there some dirty dealings in the club? Surely you boys must think something smells...or do you just put your fingers in your ears and make excuses and bank the next cheque?

Its time to look forward now 58, the past is the past and we are lucky we have lucrative sponsors and now a good management team, although we will have to judge them in a few years but things are looking ok with Bottrell and Parky running the show and i hear Howard Dawson is joining the board and having spoken with him last year, he seems to have the best interests in the club at heart..You've got to take the good with the bad and remember what you had. Always forgive, but never forget. Learn from mistakes, but never regret
