Our depth is being further tested this year with the amount of injuries and other losses so far. Also would have liked to see Jack Mayo continue his development with us but that is the system in place at the moment tho

The mid season draft is a travesty and not being used as was intended or stated. I thought it was there so AFL clubs could replace retiring or long term injured players. ie if a ruckman goes down they can look for a replacement ruckman, if a key position goes down etc etc, not plucking young players with potential to improve their depth. Plus they all have reserves or aligned clubs who already have these position players so that should be the first port of call, not raping the state leagues with no compensation. Good luck to Jack but how long before he is considered for a an AFL game?
It's just total bullsh**

Agree SS....we could use Josh and reckon Souths could use Marlion about now too. If these guys get a chance to show their wares then it's fair enough as they're getting an opportunity they otherwise wouldn't have been given but if they just add numbers to VFL teams then something needs to be done...and you are spot on...the intention of the midseason draft was to replace long term injured or retired players with a like for like...not to add kids to see if they have any development potential for the future.
