I'm saddened to hear of the passing of a true Subi legend. My father would say he could play any position on the ground.

Very sad news of the passing of Laurie Kettlewell, a player that the title great sits very comfortably, a true "utility" player who could and did play in any position and all with distinction.

Was fortunate as a youngster to see him play, not all that tall but a superb physique and a glorious dropkick. Like many fine Subi plyers of that long 49 year drought era he missed getting a flag but will be remembered as a champion footballer and a champion bloke.

SS: RIP to the champion. As a kid, I had little book called 'the Fabulous Forty', Laurie was the one Subi player whom either got into the 40 or was given strong consideration for inclusion in the list.

Yes a great player I had the good fortune to see play.
Served the state with distinction as well.
If I recall correctly was instrumental on bringing Subi back from the brink of extinction.
A great servant of his club.
