Larry Bird wrote: Not sure what your looking at BC. If your talking inside mids at the coal face EP is lacking. Mcginnity is a warrior, Redden is solid and Colledge has the size but is not that interested. After that we or they or them whichever sits best with you drop off badly. So badly in fact we had to use Johnson as a midfielder at stoppages to stop Subi walking the ball out of them.

sorry LB..no sympathy from me...we're talking about a team chock full of professional footballers with everything that goes with it opposed to part timers. Bronte was in the stands Saturday so why don't you ask him why your team is an underperformer given the playing stock and resources available. I think the answer lies in the fact your aligned guys are there because they have to be whereas players at non-aligned clubs are there because they want to be....go figure.

Anyone see what happened to Redden?
I heard he might have been injured?
Or just had a really bad day?

Aaron Heal was superb for us, as Senior said he has such a cool head and his decision making was spot on. Feathers was given the job on Jetta and despite him getting a few touches he wore him like a glove and I heard Scoey give praise at the 3 quarter time huddle. Our local zone home grown mids really showed their class this week. Horse, Broughton, Phez and Fridge were all superb and Kitch was his niggling best, watched him follow Johnson to the bench tweeting in his ear the whole way and almost through the Ferals interchange. Ryan was lively presenting and marking well but I'd like to see a little more movement from our forwards. They can be excused tho for feeling spent having to follow their full time AFL opponents that were pushing forward all day.

How much less training have the Subi boys done in their lifetime compared to the EP team on Saturday BC. Your clutching at straws. Half of the so called professional players would not be in your best 22. On another note did number 23 get reported for high contact.

how many of your aligned players have to front up for work on a Monday and fit in playing and training around full time employment? none I'd say. the hardest thing the eagles players would do on a Monday is go through recovery sessions with sports scientists and review sessions with a plethora of coaches, assistants, medicos and assorted hangers on. You're delusional if you can't see the advantages of being a full time athlete as opposed to being semi-professional. You're also living in a parallel universe if you think the team which ran out on Saturday is East Perth...they may as well wear Eagles jumpers and play the weagles club song.

Your turning into a Swans supporter BC blinkers on looking for an argument when there isn't one. Putting words in my mouth to keep it going. Your football team is very powerful much more so than its opposition. What someone does on a Monday morning has little impact on a Saturday afternoon when your head a shoulders above the competition. You can kid yourself that Subi is David vs Goliath winning against all odds but I don't buy it. You know I'm not one that has bagged Subi for their advantages. But seriously just how dominate do you want to get.

On paper the East eagles team list was intimidating but as has been the case on most occasions they don't play for the jumper like Wolf and Johnson and a few other non listed players who are lucky enough to get a run have done for years. They are serving one master and that's not the one based at Leederville. You only needed to see Redden's disinterested undisciplined effort to see what playing for Wart means to these guys, Not convinced that the form shown at WAFL level means anything at the Eagles selection table, more a case of giving the guys a run to maintain fitness or getting over an injury

They are individuals playing for an AFL spot or to maintain an AFL contract, so the team appears to be coming second. They looked top heavy on Saturday and that allowed a well balanced, well drilled well coached coordinated team to get over them, although nothing like the effort we put in against Joondy which was near our seasons best so far.

As some may have already said, once the current alignment contract is over and the Eagles take over Lathlain, they will drop EP without a thought and establish their own reserves team, ala the Crows, making a 10 team comp with no byes and an 18 game season which suits CH 7. Freo are quite happy with the Peel situation and I think a name change will happen at the same time the Eagles establish their reserves team.

agree SS...it now looks like the way forward is for the FART alignment to stay and the beags to field their own ressies team in the WAFL

As I said to someone the game is played on the field not on paper. It is hard to get a well balanced side or cohesive unit with so many players going backwards and forwards to the eagles. The forward structure and midfield is virtually changing every week. I doubt anybody is going to cry when the alignment ends as it is a means to an end and that is to get as financial as we can.Anything else would be a bonus
