Yep was a tough day that in 85 - but what a great time in WAFL history it was in 85 and 86 leading up to the Weagles coming into the VFL.
You look back at those two teams back then and they were AFL standard.

Actually in 86 Subi only got beaten by the Hawks (when the 2 premiers use to play each other after the 2 grand finals) by about 5 points I think (both teams at full strength) and Bucky kicked the winning goal for Hawthorn.
Have a look at the Hawks team of 85 - It was full of stars.

WAFL footy at it's best back then and I was rapt to be there watching it but even better for bing back there in 86 and running around the city end hill getting mugged by all the Old East supporters while singing Glory Glory !!!

1985 was tough but it was the making of Subi as a club.
You gotta loose one to win one - There's a message there for you Sharks of 2013.

That was Bunt's response and in footy I think it's true.

It builds hunger when you get so close - As a coach i think it's the best weapon going into the next season. Knowing your not far off the big one and with a few tweaks you can get it. It's realy up to the players this season for the Sharks but shit surely they would want it bad after giving the Tiggers a massive scare after they had you on the ropes???

I wish you guy's well - This season I think will be tighter than last but the Tiggers and you guy's should still be 1 & 2 I would think.

Thanks so much Ben (?La Hincha)
I've thought about this piece a lot over the years, I recently looked for it on waflvideoarchives at one stage.
I saw it on tv at the time. I've never forgotten it and it was amazing to see it again after all these years. I'm sure at the time it was played at the end of the news? Couldnt have been game day as I was at the club getting drunk so must have been on Sunday. I watched it with my late mum and we were both in tears I reckon.
Cant thank you enough for sharing it here. I've showed it to my wife to try and help explain what the WAFL used to mean.
Cringe - was that Nisbett and Loxley I saw in the coaches box.....

I'd never seen it before so what a treat !!!

Yep Nis & Lox in the box - You'd think that after his time in the WAFL Nisbett would give us more of a thought than the crap he dishes out to the WAFL now ???

Cheers for the link, all wafl footage is great viewing.

Anyone know how to download / copy the youtube clips onto your own computer for copying onto a dvd?

just watched some great highlights between SF and EF from 1979.
