Credit to Schofield and the coaches for pushing through some young players this season. Interesting to see how they've all done in 2012/2013 using the combined club/media/supporters votes as a guide. We're heading in the right direction.

Actually it's quite interesting to see who our leading performers have been by average of votes received per game over the 2012/2013 period. Didn't bother including any player not here this year. I found it really interesting and a bit of an eye opener to be honest. To get a fair reading I made it the player had to have played a minimum of 3 games.

Very interesting mate...wouldnt have thought Rumble & Phelan would be so low.

Phelan is an interesting one. Never plays an awful game but never plays a really good one or at least not good enough to get in the best players list from the club or the newspapers.

Not really sure what to make of players like that to be truthful.

I wonder how many of the Claremont players aged over 22 in their current squad aren't capable of a top 3 on ground performance at their best? None I would reckon. We have a lot in our side at the moment.

Based on that cross section of best player votes from the coaches box, Sunday Times, supporters and West Australian, experienced players should at least be able to average 2 votes a game I would hope yet we have a fair few experienced blokes averaging less than that.

9 in fact - Herring, Nicoski, Phillips, Phelan, McDonald, Stevenson, Worthington, Leishman and Davey. Way too many. Probably a bit unfair counting McDonald as an experienced player but I understand he has played a lot of senior football in Tasmania.

Some of those blokes I really rate but....

....It's probably lucky I'll never be a selector. I'd be the cruelest selector of all time. I wouldn't hesitate to drop my favourite player if he wasn't impacting games.

Anyway, I guess it's obvious we have the bye. Too much time on my hands.
