Beers at half time routine thing at some clubs

yes..that got pretty willing as well. I remember we had dropped down to B grade and played North's over at Gil Fraser one day...the Cronin boys, Phil's brothers, got stuck in with Steve getting reported and rubbed out. Dave Haddow gave me a christmas grip in a pack at one stage and I can tell you that made my eyes water....

Pretty sure Mick Garbin who played a bit of footy at Perth & SF was another from Southern Port in the early 80s.

As talented as anyone going around BH... Unfortunatley he did have itchy feet that meant he did not stay in the one place to long...Had very quick hands in the locker room too :silly:

Yeah I remember his league debut , I think he got 2 or 3 - skinny kid in number 27.

Even then it was obvious he knew where the larger posts were

Norwood paid a penny to get him not long after

I cant remember if it was his first game or not SF boys but I have never forgotten one goal he kicked against Subi at Subi city end on his left foot from the left half forward flank boundary line hemmed up under pressure from about 60m out and it went through easily.
Ended up playing in the bush, NT, SANFL & finally the AFL where he kicked a soccer scissor kick volley type goal from about 30m that had to be seen to be believed.

Had a little bit of hype that debut , we'd tried a heap of guys at FF , even ended up buying Johnny Hayes from East Perth after Paul Arnold
Was going to be our next big home grown full forward

Mercurial would be a good description , matchwinner when he had the skull tuned into the game
Bulked up considerably while in the SANFL
