Just incredible the audacity of this mob, they enter into a long term lease for next to nothing at Freo Oval till 2054, then get a $2 Million dollars interest free loan on the back of rate payers from the Freo City Council to build their castle at Freo Oval, then decide to pack up and leave breaking a lease and now have the hide to demand $4 mill for their abandoned joint from the council , then drift away to another tax payer funded home at Cockburn - I hope the FCC sue the crap out of them for breach of the lease.

This is after SFFC has been inconvenienced as far as oval use goes since they arrived , plus the use of the oval has been restricted for community events so the community has missed out there and now any future development and use by SFFC and EFFC could be hampered by this legal stoush...just mind boggling.

Doesnt surprise me Bazza...The sooner they shift to Cockburn the better, their relationship with SFFC has always been strained.
I hope the Fremantle Council dont back away from the pricks demands.

Bazza that's unbelievable, one of the wealthier clubs in the AFL trying to shaft the local community that embraced them and made it as easy as possible when they were setting up. Tell them to go forth and multiply.

yep...I've said on here before that if I follow any team in the AFL its Freo given I grew up in the neighborhood but after the leederville oval fiasco, the GF and now this...I'm off them.

typical -- they are a fotball oxymoron --- there is no such thing as 'fremantle football', and, to the extent it does exist, it is based on the rivalry of South and EF. For me at least, it was cringe worthy that they actually picked a team of SOuth and EF greats in a combined team.

Am I correct in saying, the Council (more correctly the ratepayers) contributed to some of the original costs? A bit steep if they get slugged again!

Me too BC .they can shove that anchor where the sun don't shine. Don't deserve to be called Fremantle should be changed to the Cockburn Counts....
