Given the run the Demons have, if the club is not in the final five at that time, Spalding will have to be under the pump. In addition to that, Perth will not play Subiaco until round 9. Discuss

AR we have 4 of our first 6 games at home. My expectation is that we win 3 of them and nab one away win to be 4 from 6 at that stage which should have us in the five. We have a good draw early, then it gets tough mid season before 3 straight games at home towards the end. The bottom line is that we must win games.
In any event, I don't see Duke being under pressure any more than 4 or 5 other WAFL coaches.

I am a bit concerned that we play WC reserves as our first game. I don't expect them to be good, but early in the season the Eagles don't seem to have too many injury concerns so the reserves are likely to be at their strongest. The key to playing finals is to win the games we should win. We really should beat WC, EP, and SD twice. If we can then win at home against WP, EF, SF and PT, that would give us 10 wins which should be enough to get into the 5. I don't think our start to the season is all that easy. SF away is always a hard game and C are expected to be fare well, so I agree with Smokey that 3 wins from our first 5 games would be reasonable.

smoke and ted: thanks for your thoughtful posts. I too think three out of five would do and that would take the pressure off the big fellow early in the season. Taking the five games as a whole, the only one where you would not start favourite is against the tigers. Given that some are tipping South to decline a wee bit, I would make that one a toss-up.

Just take it one game at a time. Don’t think we can afford to look to far ahead.

No need to look beyond round 1 and thumping of wce reserves, I mean seriously, 100p win minimum.

DF: I hope Perth don't let me down as I did predict the WC to go through the season winless; I want to at least have the prospect of my prediction coming to pass for a few rounds before I like stupid. Go Demons

AR it's not beating WCE that worries me.
I also hope we do as it would be a good start to the season.
Beating them in their first WAFL game.

Beating them by 100 points that's a pipe dream.
Will never happen.

Ok I'll take 15 goals then. The idea they will be competitive is humorous to me.
