Dear all, as you would be aware the SGM re the new constitution is on tomorrow night.

The new constitution includes a vote being required for entry into an alignment arrangement.

It looks like it is largely a dead issue for now but you never know so I am keen to make sure this clause gets up.

Unfortunately the clause provides that only a 50% majority is required for an alignment and not 75%.

There was always the option to ask for an amendment to the new constitution so that there is a requirement for a 75% vote but that option has not been taken up.

My preference is that, rather than run the risk of a split vote between 50 and 75 resulting in no clause getting up that the 50% clause gets up and if there is enough interest to try for a 75% this happen at a later time.

See as many as can make it tomorrow night.

If that refers to an alignment, I was led to believe that crap had been put to bed and that Perth were not interested?

It has been put to bed WAG but never know what the future could bring so staying vigilant on this.

Is the vote allowed for 50% or 75% in relation an alignment?

The new constitution adopted last night provides for a 50% vote. As explained I did not agitate the 50%/75% debate because was worried it may split the vote and not be in the constitution at all. We would be the first club to ensure that members have a say in this issue.

I am now going to gauge support for proposing an amendment to the constitution at the AGM ton provide for a 75% vote.

It may seem to everyone like a dead issue and the WCE will probably get their own team but things can change, I mean who can even keep up with what happens in the VFL?

If you support 75% please let me know.

By my reading of it - clause 19 - any motion to align would be considered an ordinary resolution and therefore require 50%.

I would support an amendment at the AGM to make it 75% and from my reading that would require that such a resolution be re-classified as a Special Resolution.

Wim Rosebender asked an interesting question last night - "Were the WAFL presidents consulted on the WAFC announcement of concessions for EP?" Answer - No. He followed up - "Would the PFC be protesting to the WAFC about this proposal? - Answer - Yes.

To have this changed would we need to hold another meeting?
