Mixed news out of today's AGM.
Club profit $69,000 excellent result considering dismal year again onfield.
Recruiting.... Matt Taylor signed on, Corey Yeo ex Claremont, Mitch Lague ex EP, Richard Bourne ex EF, Cal Collard returns,
Jake Spencer ex Melb. all but signed but decided to go home to Qld and family.
Talking with Simon Tunbridge, Zac Clarke and Nick Suban but some sort of medical protocols for ex AFL players delaying things there so no guarantees. Also talking to a couple of other ruckmen. No details.
Sam Butler wont play bad shoulder but will take a development role in relation to leadership.
Have to wait and see how all this ends up. Not holding breath at this stage.

Corey Yeo last played WAFL 2015 and 3rd in their B & F that year. Tidy stats and only 28. Been playing VFL so may be handy.

Smokey Yeo is a good get for a few reasons.
He's played in a league final at Claremont.
His last two seasons at Claremont he was a regular league player and
He's a 6 foot 1 mid with pretty good stats and he's a good age of 26.

Agree Yeo looks like a good pick up.
Not sure what his year was like this year at Williamstown.

Clark and Suban would be good gets.
Suban and Yeo would give us a pretty good midfield.
Never been sure about Clark, we need a tough ruckman who will bust packs.
Good to have Taylor back, now for Tunbridge.
The appointment of Sammy Butler in a development role is great news.

Agree 30+. Add his VFL experience. He is certainly a good prospect for us. Perhaps a replacement for McKenna or Tropo..
Suban is the one I would go all out to get. Not only good grunt but good skills and run.
Great to have Matt Taylor back. He will slot back into the defence.
A real shame about Jake Spencer. He was coming until the last minute apparently but not to be.
For mine we haven't covered all our losses yet nor our essential needs....ruckman, key forward, tall defender.
I guess we will have to "watch this Space" and hope for the best.

Good news about the profit given the shitty year on-field.

Spencer is a real disappointment. We were close to getting Howlett too but he decided on Peel. Another good player from Vic was signed then pulled out at the last minute. Forget his name. Yeo is a good get, and there’s a guy from Esperance and another guy from amateurs that people are suggesting will be good for us. One outcome of the review that I heard is that the clubs players favour the model of developing from within (which of course they would). But cynicism aside, I think that ex AFL guys (and we could all name them) sometimes just come back looking for money and aren’t that committed. With those guys we’re talking to, Sivan and co, they’re all represented by the same manager. But all have major injury worries, including Tunbridge. I wouldn’t be spending too much money on these guys. The market for an ex-afl player is around $100000. That’s what they want. And part of this is a job. So you have to find these guys a job and pay them to pay. This is where our board and other leading members do their bit, a lot of which goes unrecorded. So, it’s not just about talking to a player and getting him to agree to play for you. You have to organize their life for them. Makes being an AFL club seem much simpler.
